Default off-season FA to in-season FA bid changes

Just clarifying what happens with bids once we change from off-season FA to in-season FA tonight.

The rules still say that at the time of change-over, “all active bids will be finalized. For any player with an active (not yet final) bid, the highest bid to be electronically postmarked (determined by the mail server time-stamp) prior to this time will be declared the winning bid.”

I didn’t want anyone to get distracted by this, because this was later changed to bids revert from 48 hours to 24 hours (I can’t find the darn thread anywhere - I know I’ve read it before). I checked with Brian and this agrees with his memory.

Basically, any bids made today will essentially become 24 hours and and the players will end tomorrow, 24 hours after today’s bid (unless bid on again).

If anyone knows where that thread is, please post it. I searched high and low for it. It must be have a title that doesn’t match.

I did a little more searching. I still couldn't find a definitive thread, but I found both Brian and Mike acknowledging it.

Note to self that this needs to be addressed next off-season:

Brian pointed out to me that it would be confusing to have in-season bidding start a week and a half before the season, yet have a different set of rules for the first week of it. I agree. My suggestion will be that the entire off-season to in-season changeoever, including team declarations, should happen on the day after Labor Day. It doesn't make any sense to me that that you have to make all your team declarations before you even get to see what happens with the final, and most important, round of NFL cuts.

I will put it on the agenda for next season.
