INJURED RESERVE RULE (2017 Implemented) Players must meet any of the official NFL IR standards to be placed in IR status. The minimum term on IR status will be 4 weeks, then player must be IR eligible and it will extend an additional 2 weeks, and will continue to need to be eligible every 2 weeks or player must be activated. A player may be activated at the end of any IR period he has started. If a non-eligible player is not activated within 1 week of no longer meeting IR eligible status and a 4 or 2 week period has expired, the player will be considered cut and exposed to waivers and standard cap penalties. For shorthand this is a 4x2x2 type system.

Soooo...What do you think so far???

Do we want to track actual dates placed on IR or the week the player 1st missed games...i.e. I put Brees on IR week 2 and that is the official start even though I did it on Thursday? Then there is the BYE week consideration - I think if a player is put on IR prior to a bye week then that counts as one of his weeks....

Notifications will go out on here and through the message system...so there will be double coverage at a minimum...I will not call an owner to inform him of possible breeches...NOW if someone else wants to triple cover an owner, go for it...

Again - Thoughts???

I would list date placed on IR and the first effective week. The date is less important but is a good reverence poin

Maybe something like:

Sammy Watkins 9/5/2017, out Weeks 1-4, extended weeks 5-6, week 7 no longer IR eligible

I'd also sort the teams alphabetically for easier reference.

Please feel free to start posting your injured players with full contracts (years and $) who you intend to place on IR...I will check thread regularly to update tracker...

The move is official once you post it on here - no do overs...so make sure you really want to do it first...

IR posts need to be on the Free Agency board as separate threads as they always have been, NOT posted by teams here. This thread will just be the tracking of weeks and whatnot for players placed on IR on the other board. IMO IR extensions should be posted in each players individual IR thread as well.

i.e. WR Allen Robinson placed on IR by Opihi

or something of the sort? That way we can click on the last post to see what's new.

We're grateful for all you've done to get this thread up and running. It is helpful and an improvement to the league. But if you don't want to do something because it doesn't seem fair, don't do it. We'll get by. When Pat updates the excel app, whatever date he says "updated" by, becomes the date that the app is "current" from. Ultimately, we're ALL responsible for our own teams (cuts, pickups, cap space, IR designation, etc.)... so if we don't have it right, that's on each of us. But if you can help us stay on top of it, even better!

A suggestion might be to put in the "reason for editing" box when you update the original post the names of the players you added. When I update the Waiver claim thread, that's how I do it. Just put the player's name in the edit box. Just a thought.

In fairness you are dealing with far fewer moves than the roster app. The roster app is often dozens of changes.

I made a suggestion to make it easier on keeping up with this thread. Do as you will, but keep in mind the amount of work put in by others, particularly Pat, but also Dale and I on the MFL side of things. Then's there's Jim who deals with any controversies as they arise. Everyone plays a role to some degree or other!
