lol Yeah, the Swords talk alot about Grossman. We live in tiny towns here in Indiana, though, so a hometown kid making the big leagues only happens every few decades or so - you have to show him some love.

Yah, I grew up in what WAS a small town, about 250,000 now, but where in California isn't anymore. Amani Toomer went to my high school, but I am freaking old, so it was long after I left there. The football team sucked then, but it rocks now!! They just lost last year for the first time since Toomer left there.....

Yeah, its neat to have those ties to overpaid, millionaire athletes. I grew up good friends with Brad Miller in a town of 10,000. Wrong sport of course ;), but really my only connection to the pro sports world.

I knew a guy who tried out for the NFL (undrafted FA).

He was a kicker, tried out with a bunch of other guys for NE. Lost out to Vinitiari (sp?) on a kickoff the last day.

Closest I ever got to knowing an NFL player.

yah, like they care if WE know them or not. My best claim to fame is Tom Candiotti (retired knuckleballer; played Hoyt Wilhelm in "61"). I went to grade school with his sister, played little league with him, and best of all, he was my sisters first kiss.

Former Titans and Bills LB Eddie Robinson lived next door to me for his 1 season in Buffalo :bag
Also, recently retired C Dave Wolabaugh's parents live 2 doors down the street from me. His kids hang out with mine occasionally when he's in town, and his parents always had the flag of whichever team he was playing for (Patriots, Browns, Rams) up their flagpole EVERYDAY.

Edited to add, I also spent 45 minutes talking to Gregg Williams on a flight to DC about a month after the Bills hired him 4 years ago. Great guy, terrible coach :bag

Hmm. What do I have. Well, Brett Hedican of the NHL went to my high school, and he played little league baseball on a team my dad coached and my brother played on, and I occassionaly watched game of. That's the closest first hand connection I have to any pro sports.

But, if we're talking home town hero's, I could go ahead and adopt all of the greats that have come out of St. Paul over the years.

If he doesn't know the situation he is in then he is in trouble. I was just pointing it out to the rest of us.

I find the 2 QB/WR combinations in play kind of interesting.

Oakland
Randy Moss is currently at 2850
Kerry Collins is currently at 1450

Chicago
Mushin Muhammad is currently at 1100
Rex Grossman is currently at 350

Conclusions
Moss and Muhammy are going to get theirs, but apparently Collins/Grossman wont be the ones thowing them the ball.

Pointless info alert!!

Pro sports connections- Reggie Jackson went to my HS (in the 60's) as did Radiers 4th round pick Chad Levitt (we played football and little league baseball together) and Matt Clement of the Red Sox attended my alma mater (undergrad) for the first two fall semesters of his playing career (we ended up in a bunch of classes together).

TV and Movies- Brad Raider (Trouble with Normal) went to my HS and was part of my graduating class and Mike Vogel (Grind, Texas Chainsaw Masaccre) played softball against me for a few years.

I am back at work for a Saturday, so I will throw a IDP'er out there for you.

I know no one famous, except Mike Reichenbach goes to my church. He was an Eagles LB, along with a few other teams. My uncle went to Matt's school and was with Reggie Jackson in the school, etc. Not much else. I've met a few other people I thought were "famous," at least in my mind. Bands I listened to, that's about it.

The bids placed Friday sell at the same time as the bid on Monday. Bids are suspended over the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday bids are treated as if made at 12:00am on Monday, and will sell Tuesday at 12:00am.

well, ya'w keep up the bidding this week and just because i'm gone doesn't mean you should stop your frantic bidding. i'll try to keep up as much as possible until i return next tuesday (may only be every other day or so). in the meantime, if i need to nominate a player anyone can feel free to give me a call on my cell: (812) 287-2480 and let me know so i'm not holding up the movement of FA bidding. see ya'w on the flip side.

Rules question.

How do the Frenzy rules handle RW? If he decides to stay retired, can he be cut cap hit free?

Nope. Retiring/retired players still carry a cap hit if released.
