QB's, who needs a QB?

Hall of Famer Brett Favre has been marked DOWN... get a HOFer for a late round draft pick!

QB's... QB's... come get your QB's!

Maybe you and Flaxwless can swap QB's for RB's?

I'm getting solicitations left and right for my surplus RBs. Aren't you? If not, that makes me feel better.

True, players are going for more than true market value I think, but let's also remember that the vast majority of players sold so far are in the upper tier of their respective positions. I don't think prices will really come down for another cycle or two.

On the other side note...who's going to run out of money first!

IDP: DB's in low 200's, LB's now selling in 200's as well. DL I believe cracked the 100's.

WR's still going for upper 1000's - at least for 3rd tier RB's is starting to look normal. And aside from Preds taking every QB, it appears Kurt Warner sold for the lowest of 500s. Not bad.

Now, if we can do something about the runaway WR salaries...

Personally I don't believe you should be able to go beyond the point that you can field a legal team of at least 100 cb a player - most especially during a league initiating auction.
After talking with Jake earlier this week and then looking at the Bloodsuckers roster, I just noticed that he cannot fill the minimum on offense and defense with the minimum 100 cb bids. In my opinion this is illegal. Sure he may not be over the salary cap but when you factor in the league roster minimums, he is over the salary cap. I think this topic needs some further discussion. Thoughts????

To my recollection, there is nowhere in the rules where in the off-season a team has to be at the roster minimums or that they must reserve cap space to fill a minimum roster.

I don't see where Frank, or at the moment Jack are violating any of the rules.

:agree I don't think we need to handicapp someone for trying to make some moves in a roundabout way during the offseason. Not being able to go over the cap is sufficient I think. My 2cents

I had looked in the rules because of the situation I had put myself in yesterday. This is the only thing I could find. What I figured is that, I would have had 24 hours to drop somebody(taking the cap hit) to get myself back under the cap. Am I close in my assumption?

Rule #6
Once a player goes unbid upon for 48 hours he is considered SOLD to the high bidder. That player will immediatly count against the cap of the winning team. Remember, teams must always stay under the cap year round in SAC'd, if you exceed the cap, you have only 24 hours to get under.

Who's Jack?

I'm only talking about Frank's roster. In order to meet roster minimums (13 IOP, 8 IDP), Frank needs 7 more IOPs and 3 more IDPs. At 100 cb minimum bids, he would exceed his cap space by 160 cbs. I just don't think it's fair that you don't have to worry about roster minimums so it's actually advantageous to do what Frank did and hoard 4 upper-tier RBs until the last minute. This is one of the big reasons why player prices are so high. There needs to be some kind of regulation to keep teams in check.

Had I known this I would have definitely taken an approach like so many others and bid up many of these players like they have been; however, I was making sure that in no way would I exceed my cap space factoring in roster minimums. Too bad it took me this long to realize it as I feel I am now seriously disadvantaged in this league right now.

Right but factor in roster minimums you must reach and Frank has been over the cap.

Jack = Subzero = Keepers. If Jack wins the current bids he's high on, he'll be exceeding the cap by 245 with just 19 players. He'll have to make cuts or trades within 24 hours to get under.

As for it being advantagous, in what way? He still has to abide by the cap. By hoarding RB's, Frank missed out on bidding on players for nearly 2 weeks. Always being under the cap is enough of a deterrent. We have the entire off-season to build our roster, nowhere in the rules does it specify you must reserve cap space, nor should it IMO.

The regulation to keep teams in check is the cap. That you and Jake assumed you had to have space to meet the minimums is nobodies fault but your own. We've never forced teams to meet the minimums in the off-season in the Frenzy. Why would SAC'D be any different? By tieing up cap dollars, Frank inhibited his ability to acquire other players, that's penalty enough.

But in the off-season there are NO ROSTER MINIMUMS. They kick in August 16th when the In-Season period begins.

Bottom line is that it is spelled out cut and dry that you only need to be in compliance with the cap in the offseason, and you must meet the roster minimums AND cap during the in season period. If we want to change that in the future, we can address it for next year (where I don't think it will be an issue, since most players will be under contract), but I don't think we can do anything to change things this year.

Basically, my opinion is, that if people don't bail him out and take these high priced players of his hands, then his advantage will be minimized when he starts taking cap hits for dropping 4 figure salaries.

i know it's not going to change just wish i'd realized this earlier. but the biggest problem this has caused are the over-inflated player prices.

The market will adjust over time. Players will get cut, or 1 yr deals as teams realize they've overpaid. Next year will be a better barometer on market value than this year.

yes, agreed with Preds. but, it doesn't make this year as good. It throws off strategies. I know I had things planned for this year and the future, but because prices went bonkers, my plan went out the window and had to resort to plan K.
