Super high risk, but equally high reward. He probably should go later (mid to late 2nd), but I don't want to keep things waiting overnight to talk deal with the guys in the middle.
Thus, I'll hope Maurice develops into the back he could be. He certainly couldn't have landed in a better situation than Denver, and he's said all the right things after f'ing up at the combine. Who knows, maybe I cut him a year from now... either that, or he's in my starting backfield once Tatum goes down with another nagging injury. I was VERY tempted to take Alex Smith here, but QB's take 2-3 years to develop, just couldn't do it, though he's a well spoken impressive guy. though, I'm keeping my contract with the :devil and going for broke.Lets see just what Maurice has. Now flame away! Last edited by Preds; April 27th, 2005 at 11:03 PM. |

I can't say that I'm surprised he went this early. I'm a little surprised you took him. This time last year, I was all over Maurice, this year, who knows. He definitely should get an opportunity in Denver, and if Shanahan is in your corner, there's few better places to be for an RB. He just better make sure to stay out of the doghouse.

well I own Tatum Bell in the Frenzy, so I'm kind of leveraging my risk between the 2 leagues...

I actually dont think this is a bad pick. It is very high risk, but the payoff could be big...I just think you will have to wait a couple years or at least a year.

plus, the biggest reason I would stay away from him is that he hasn't completed a full year of football since, I think, junior high. Even at OSU, he only played about 2/3 the games because of injury. They hit A LOT harder in the NFL. Dec 11 is not going to be a good day - meet Ray Lewis...
