Hey you guys.
I think with FA having started people are starting to realize what limited roster spots we have. Lats time I voted aginst roster expansion but now I have come to like the idea of adding two more roster spots. With our current 16 man roster it seems rather limited. We start 9 players. Leaving only 7 for back ups. A Back up QB is almost a neccessity and most people tend to have a back up DEF. So that's 5 roster spots between left for WRs and RBs. Which seems fine but that doesn't account TEs and PK that we're missing out on. How about we suggest having 18 man roster with a required back up TE and PK. That way we wold recieve a full 16 spots to fill out the key players at the primary scoring poistions? I believe anything more than 18 would be too much. WHta do you guys think?

Kinda why I brought it up in the 1st place. We can't backup all 3 WR's w/o leaving 2 among TE, K, or D open.
Even 1 extra roster spot would give teams a bit more active roster wiggle room. How about we expand to 17 player active roster for 2002, increase the cap by $500 cb's, and require at least 1 backup TE, K, or D? In 2003 we could expand to 18, and keep the DS at 4 players in 2004 instead of 5.

Yah, I'm all for that. Right now I wasn't planning on having any backups at K, D or TE... so adding one more and increasing the cap by $500 works for me!!!

So there's three of us in favor of adding ONE MORE PLAYER to our active roster (+500 cyber bucks cap space)... with the 17th player having to be a backup K, TE or D.
Any others interested? If we get a few more, we can run one of Mike's "OFFICIAL POLLS"! |

I think this makes sense, but would prefer to wait until 2003 for these changes. It seems like we make changes in the middle of the process and then we all are adjusting our plans. I like the idea but feel that implementation would be better next year.

Ah but Matt, were just addressing things as they come up, and in the process building a better league for the long haul.
I like the idea of larger rosters, whether this year or next, either is fine by me. We could tighten the cap space up a bit for this year, say maybe only an extra 250 for the 17th player this year, more in line with a backups price. Then expand the cap to 500 and 17 players next year.

That sounds good Mike.
Also Phil I don't think ther would be much change in strategies and such because these are prices are along the lines for backups. Nothing major.

It all sounds fine to me, but I'd like to keep the DS expansion to 5 in 2004 since a backup roster spot will mandatorily be either TE or K. In most cases, players of this type will never find themselves on someone's DS.
