I think I have 38 contract years to work with. On the MFL site it shows that I am at 37. If I cut the following three 1 year players:
Cut Andrew Luck, IND QB (1 yr, $1050) Cut Sebastian Janikowski, OAK PK (1 yr, $125) Cut Caleb Sturgis, PHI PK (1 yr, $145) Would I have then have the 4 years I would need to promote Sterling Sheppard? I think that is correct but I have been having a heck of a time keeping track of things this year and thought maybe someone could confirm before I get myself into a roster violation situation. Thanks! |

Short answer is yes. If you IR 2 of them and cut 3rd still save years to promote Sheppard. No QB or PK week 10 is another point to ponder.

My understanding is if you cut a 1 year guy from IR you don't gain any years because you get 1 year (extra) when you IR someone.

MFL shows all years, active plus IR - it is not set up to adjust the 1 year we get back for each player on IR.
So right now, it shows you are at 37 years. With Sturgis on IR, you are at 36 years then. If you cut Sturgis, you would still be at 36 years. If you cut Jano and Luck, this would bring you to 34 years - so yes, 4 years available to assign. Assuming MFL is correct and current as of this post.

MFL was current as of Sunday, except for minor adjustments I need to make to cap dollars for soft cap cuts. but years should be correct
