Default OOPS... Kyle you forgot a couple things before bolting for vacation...

1. Kyle cannot redo contract years that have already been assigned. He tried to give William Green a 4 year contract. Green has 2 years remaining on his deal that was assigned to him after 2002's draft.

2. Kyle forgot to give contract years on his free agent and RFA pickups, specifically James Mungro, Keyshawn Johnson, Chad Lewis and the Redskins Defense.

Kyle just left for Costa Rica till August 18th, so we'll have to wait till then for a a reply. Problem is our decleration deadline is August 15th. Anybody have some input on how we should handle his mistakes? Should we be hardcore and give him 1 year deals on all his undeclared players? Or should we give him a break till he gets back? I'll leave this for the league as a whole to provide some input before stating what I'd do.

Mike

I can imagine things are hectic when you're getting ready to go to Costa Rica, but still, a mistake is a mistake and the rules are pretty clear... sorry Kyle, my guess is you're getting busted. :jailbird

Knowing that he's out of town I say give him some time after he gets back from Costa Rica. It's not that big a deal and if he were here he'd have plenty of time to fix his mistakes.

I'm all for giving the guy a few days grace period... 2 days seems reasonable.

Costa Rica... what, is he doing the "Jurassic Park" movie set tour?

It's a complete nightmare to run a league without consistantly enforcing rules. I think Kyle's a great owner and I wish him no ill will. I am sympathetic to the mistake, but it's not a good idea to vote on which rules will be enforced against which teams. We must be consistant. The rules committee didn't ask for my vote when they ejected the Wyverns from the league, so I think we all know that rules WILL be enforced.

We've known the deadline for months, and it's unfortunate that Kyle waited until the last minute, but such is life. If there is a way to contact him so he can correct his mistake before the deadline, then make haste and find him! Changing or voting on whether we enforce the rules should be taken off the board. I know we play for fun, but in the long run we are a better league if we stay the course.

Now, when do the Giants start pre-season? Clearly they didn't arrive in time to play against the Patriots.

Okay, Rich... you talked me into it. Very valid points. I'll now side with "stick to the rules". Being a commish in another league, I'd also appreciate it if folks stayed with the program.

I was curious to see the reactions from the league before posting my opinion... I think Rich hit the nail dead on the head. It sucks being a hardass, and its not my first choice, but we setup these issues for a reason. It is my opinion that the 3 players Kyle forgot to declare years on get 1 year deals, I haven't talked yet with the rest of the rules committee so I'll await their input 1st, but Rich's take above pretty much sums it all up.

One reason I didn't post my opinion 1st is because I didn't want anyone to suspect sour grapes off last years championship loss lol. :Banghead I truly am over it now guys, honest!:football

I also am in favor of consistency while enforcing rules.
