The Rules Committee has decided to HALT the Free Agency period since we have voted unanimously to evict the Wyverns from the league due to continued lack of activity at key times. He was warned last time that he had one last chance, and he hasn't checked in for over a week and a key FA he could use has already sold.
We are going to actively seek a replacement owner ASAP. Until the new owner is in however, no more BIDDING is allowed. Sorry guys. If you have a potential replacement in mind, please e-mail or PM Jake, Brian or myself ASAP. Thanks. Mike

That sucks to hear but I think in the best interests of the league we definitely want active owners. 1 unactive owner can kill this league. Lets hope we find a good replacement.

Who's already sold?
Sorry, I wasn't able to check in last night... problems with my computer (and I was out most of the day doing a wedding)... so how are we going to handle previous bids & the time process? Are all bids null and void? Are we going to resume where we left off (sort of like running under a yellow flag in auto racing)? Keep us informed, gang! Thanks for working for the betterment of the league. PS. NOTE... I just checked to see it was Kitna & Deuce McAllister. My bad. Last edited by Royal Hawaiian Opihi; June 3rd, 2003 at 12:24 PM. |

Seriously, I see a major concern with starting the bidding back up again. We're going to have to have a significant time of "getting back in sync" as a league... so everyone knows that the bidding is restarting. Personally, I'd love to keep things where they are with the same elapsed time for the bids... but that will get really tricky... and require probably an adminstrative post on every bid, designating who the high bid is and how much of the 28-hour time period has elapsed as the new bidding starts. That would be most fair. Then again, we could just clear the boards & start over from scratch... but it would be a shame to waste all that's come down. Just my two cents... I'm sure the rules committee has things under control!

I would prefer not to lose the two players that I have already won (seemed like those 48 hours would never pass and we at least had 11 owners involved). I would suggest that we continue from where we are (when bidding was halted) if there is some way to set the time frames.

One more administrative suggestion... I think the Rules Committee should send out a league-wide email, IMMEDIATELY. Sometimes I only respond to those emails from the message board saying that someone else has replied to a thread I've subscribed to. If an owner or two is just bidding on those emails, then they might miss this very pertinent email, thus throwing off our "halt" directive.
Unless you want to manually lock out all the other threads until further notice (might not be a bad idea either!). Again, just trying to help... PS. And I agree, you shouldn't have to lose the players you've already won, fair and square! Last edited by Royal Hawaiian Opihi; June 3rd, 2003 at 12:41 PM. |

One more suggestion... why not posting an "owner wanted" ad on the general board of this message board... with so many other active owners in various leagues that Mike belongs to, it should be easy to find one more!
Now I'm off to get my kids ready for school.... then head in for work. I'll check in again in about 4 hours. |

Unless Mike and Jake have discussed it, I'd say we haven't ironed out all of the details of the "yellow flag" period. My opinion on the various issues raised:
Players already sold: I would agree that nothing should be done about the sold players. While I think it almost criminal that Deuce sold for only 2400, I think it would be unfair to undo anything at this point. I would take the responsibility on myself that I personally wasn't watching the situation close enough to see that the Wyverns had been absent. Status of bids once we resume: I would be in favor of keeping the current timetable of bids once we resume. I do not know the difficulty of doing this. I would suspect it would be no more difficult that having all bid timeframes start from scratch. Notice to the league: I would hope that this thread is enough of a deterent to keep people from bidding. I suppose other people browse the board differently from myself, but I always check the new threads, so hopefully everyone will see this. We can also delete posts if someone bids eroneously. The link from the website to mail all ownsers doesn't work with my email system, so anyone else who cares to do that can, in my opinion. It is going to take an uknown amount of time to find a replacement owner. It would also be fair to let them have some time to familiarize themself with the league, etc, so I think we have a while to work out the kinks. I also think we will give ample warning to all owners once we are ready to go again (say, once we have a new owner, to email the league and let them know bidding will resume on such-and-such date). |

I concur with the Dodgers. If we can ensure that everybody is aware of the situation, then pick a new start-up date and time and give all existing (unsold) bids 24 hours to be raised. If they are raised the new 48 hour clock starts otherwise the players that no one wanted to raise will go to the existing high bidder. Everyone should have time to scope out who they want to raise and this should not drag out the process for players that have reached their peak price.

In terms of the Wyverns, they did not do anything with the RFA period and that really should have been a red flag. He had the chance to protect players (I think he had Harrison, McCallister and Manning) and did not. He also did not actively bid on anyone (I don't think).
I think we are going down a slippery slope trying to undo what has already happened. Last edited by Philadelphia Freedom; June 3rd, 2003 at 01:12 PM. |

I'm already working a lead boys and girls, so be patient ;).
We may be filled by this afternoon. Mike BTW Philly, Im not saying you have to, but I think it'd be a nice gesture to the new team to allow him a one time opportunity to raise the bid on the 2 players you won. Kinda take one for the league if you know what I mean. If you're against that I understand. As for the rest of the players, lets see how long this delay lasts, and then add how many hours onto their sale time if they are not increased. Sound good? Oh and Dodgers, your former team owner is my lead ;)!

Booo....
yes a voice from the past sneaking in too say I'm baaaaaaaack! I will be taking over the mismangaged team. Could we please start the FA up say tomorrow after I have a chance to review the rule changes and such from year one and get myself back in shape with this league. It would be nice if I get a shot at upping the bid since I have taken over a team in such poor shape. btw, which team was it that took over the garbage dogs from the past...want to know who my cheif revival will be outside of preds...lol I will do a press release and such later...am at work now, currently slow but that could change. |

Ah, now I know who to thank for the wonderful state of affairs I inherited. That was a wonderful cap situation you left me with. Granted, I haven't done much in the last year+ to make it any better.
It is pretty sweet justice to see you come back and take over a team in even worse shape than the one you left for me. :p Edited to add: if he comes back as the Rabid Garbage Dogs, that's going to make my record keeping real interesting. Last edited by Nittany Dodgers; June 3rd, 2003 at 02:24 PM. |

As for a restart, I myself am fine with adding 24-48 hours on the clocks of all unsold players... anybody else object? Which do you all prefer, 24 or 48?
As for the players that sold already, Deuce, Kitna, and I believe the Raiders D... we are in discussions htat might allow Tim and only Tim to raise the bids on these players 1 time and grant the previously winning team the opportunity to match. We further might limit those bids to a max increast of 15-20%... still being discussed. Anybody else have suggestions regarding this? Oh and Dodgers, Tim's team was hurting when you took over, but only because he was built to win the bowl the 1st year and nearly did it. He built for the present at the expense of the future , who was to know it'd be YOUR future! ;) :p

After much soul searching and out of deference to our "new"
owner I would like to make the following offer:I will be happy to allow Tim the chance to up the offer on the two players that have sold. This would be a one time offer (only for Tim) and I will have the option of matching. This would give him a fair chance to take his best shot while not dragging this out and will also would prohibit any other owners from re-entering the fray. Since he has requested a day to get familiar with his new squad. I am thinking that if he is interested he can place his offer(s) by the end of the day tomorrow (6/4). Welcome back Tim! Nice to see a blast from the past. Old west divisoin rival.
Also, I'd like to thank the Freedom for being so generous with their offer. As stated before they are not required to do this but it seems very fair and righteous that they are willing to do so. Another reason why I love this league. :toast: |

Hmm, we're going to grandfather Deuce and allow a 1 time bid while Ahman, despite being 43 hours into his 48 hour window gets bid up under a changed market?
Grab your hooves, this won't hurt a bit.... :retard |

Welcome back Tim!
I've got to agree with the Llamas here guys. The Wyverns are holding ALOT of cap space that will have a huge impact on market forces. Even if Tim is allowed a one time bid on Deuce, the impact on Deuce's salary is going to likely be minimal in comparison to the rest of the players still on the market (such as Green). Allowing a premium player to join a new team at less than market value seems to be contrary to everything we work for in the Frenzy. If time remaining on bids is to remain the same, i.e. Ahman Green will have 5 hours remaining when bidding resumes... I think allowing Tim a one-time bid on Deuce makes sense. If we are adding 24 hours or more to time remaining on bids, however, I think the same amount of time needs to be added to every UFA that's been on the market this year... including Deuce. |

OK, Tim will have the opportunity to increase the winning bids on the 3 players that sold... Kitna (sold for 250), McAllister (sold for 2400), and Oakland D(sold for 150) by a max of 20%. The teams winning the bids will have 72 hours to match or decline the bids just like the RFA period.
Tim must post his intentions to raise the selling bids by tommorrow at 4pm (approx. 24 hours from now). Tim, please post either way whether or not you want to up the bid on these 3 players by posting WITHIN their thread. Thanks for you patience everybody, most of you already know that Tim is a solid and active owner, those who don't know him will soon find that out! As for the Llamas and Ahman Green, tough beans freind , he still had 5 hours on the open market and very likely would have been raised. The same goes for other players that would have sold today as well (2 of whom were mine). All players who haven't sold will have 24 hours added to their clocks, so players with June 1st as their last bid date will sell June 4th, and those with June 2nd will sell June 5th. Bidding itself can resume at 12:01am tonight... all bids with June 3rd and on will follow our normal 48 hour rule for Monday - Thursday bids, and 72 hour rule for Friday/Saturday bids. Tim, you may want to comb the June 1st bids by tommorrow morning to make sure none slip through the cracks on you.

Okay... just checking back in... getting caught up to speed.
Thanks, Matt, for your "good faith" gesture. I think it's a fair solution, though I'd be a bit pissed if it was my team that had one the bids. So now it's like Matt's the RFA owner of Deuce & that QB from Cincy, and Tim gets one "take it or leave it" crack at those two players. Okay. As for the 24-hour extension, bidding resumes at a minute past midnight tonight EST... and we just add another day to the last legitimate post, correct? So we'll still have the staggered clearing... just pushed back a day. Got it! Thanks for making a possibly horrendous situation one that looks to be a great benefit for the league as a whole! And even though I didn't have the opportunity to compete with you in the innagural season, Tim... welcome back! My OPIHI were the team that kicked butt in scoring, but still managed to hit just about every opponent when they were having their one (or two) highest output weeks of the season! lol such is life in FF!

I also agree that due to the timetable in which things happened has created a slight unfairness. However, I don't know that a better solutions exists, and considering that the inequity that will exist (in allowing McAllister to be raised only once, while Ahman remains on the bidding block) does not near approach the inequity that exists with the previous salary of Deuce, Priest, and the continued and ongoing salaries of Michael Bennett, Travis Henry, Todd Heap, Shaun Alexander, and Mike Vick. The league, by in large, is/was willing to wait out those contract to even things out. I think Deuce's current contract won't make quite the same inpact on the league, and won't be felt as long as those. |

You're a stand up guy and your proposal gives a nice out on fixing this. Thanks for making it happen. This is purely me being wound too tight today! Hey, I didn't join the league until after last year's UFA so I got to fill my roster with leftovers. Now I'm 5 hours from landing my first meaningful RB and now have to put the beer on ice a while longer. Very much looking to move forward with UFA. |
