2013 Hell Mutts franchise RB Marshawn Lynch Seat

Hate to do it again but we must.

My prelim salary figure is 3790cb's...

On a side note...Is there ANY benefit from giving a franchise player a multiyear contract? I saw it discussed this offseason but never understood what the team would gain by doing it. Is the player not "franchised" after the 1st year (considered a regular contract) and for future years gets 10% raise and franchise tag is available for another?

The only value I would see is if you foresee players at that position having their salaries continue to climb at a high rate. If you're afraid that top level RB's (for example) are all going to be bid up into the 4-5K range over the next couple of years and you can franchise your guy for $3800, then I could see it being a benefit, but there's still risk in doing that. Otherwise I'd just make a guy an RFA and hope people didn't go bonkers on the bidding.

I am not sure what I may have said in the previous discussions, if anything, but I am thinking Franchised players can only be given 1 year contracts. This would tie into what they can do in NFL. I believe the Franchise tag on a player in NFL only holds him to that team for that year.

And 3790cb is correct, since 20% increase is greater than the average of top 10 salaries (3425cb)
