Default Doug Jolley Promoted to Active Squad

2nd Year TE Promoted to Active Squad

Bay Area- IT seems that the Bay Area Bloodsucking Insects know how to draft them. Last year they drafted RB Clinton Portis (1.7), RB Lamar Gordon (2.7), and TE Doug Jolley (3.12). Portis and Gordon played their way from the Development Squad and onto the Active Squad and starred for the Insects after they traded stud RB and Insect leading scorer, Ricky Williams.

With two-thirds of the 2002 Draft class on the active roster, the announced promotion of Doug Jolley to Active Squad makes the club three for three. As of now they are the only team in the league to have all of their 2002 Draft picks on the Active Roster. GM Frank Alonzo said, "It is a credit to my staff on our great selection of rookies. We look for rookies who possess long-term potential but also immediate impact. Clinton, Lamar, and Doug worked their tails off last year and will be the foundations of our offense for 2003-2004 season and the future."

This is very important as the Insects have set to rebuild after they won the Championship in 2001. With Bubba Franks, Koren Robinson, Jerry Porter, and Plaxico Burress GM Frank Alonzo was asked to comment on how Jolley would fit in the offense. "Jolley is a young pass catching TE who will stretch the middle of the field with his speed, fluid route running, and great body control. Bubba will work the short passes and end zone while our WRs will do their thing. One thing is for sure..... our Red Zone offense will be something to watch. All of our recievers are big targets 6'2'' or bigger. Bubba, Doug, and Plaxico are all bigger than 6'4"."

It seems that GM Frank Alonzo seems very confident in their passing game and was asked to comment on his predictions for the season. "I'm not going to guarantee anything but I would love to get the trophy back to the Bay Area. Our team has loads of talent and potential but it's very young. We're lucky we have Steve McNair and James Thrash to lead the team but we'll be looking to sign some vets to help teach these young kids how to be professionals."
