Not to be nosey, but the info I found on Sciancoe is 'PROBABLE':
09/02/11 TE Visanthe Shiancoe - Hamstring - Probable for start of regular season But that also brings up a question which affects me placing Moeaki on injured reserve: when I read the rules it seems to indicate that a player cannot be placed on injured reserve before midnight on the cut-off day.. which we moved to Sept 5th this year. Does that mean for 1 minute of time I still need to carry the injured player on my active roster, and thus probably have to cut a draft pick? Or does it all happen simultaneously at the deadline of the cut-off day?

I have always made contracts assuming we needed to be under the cap when contracts are declared. So you would still need room for the player you planned ot place o IR.

Yeah that is kind of what I get out of reading the rules too .. anyone else know if this has been a point of discussion before?

The whole point of IR is to allow you to pick up a player to be used to replace an injured player, so that you may have a full 30 man roster. It is not a way to get extra players. The rules state that the Monday after the 3rd preseason game, you must have your contract assignments in by 11:59pm. Then at midnight, the IR opens up for you to start replacing players that are injured to get ready for games...
So yes, one minute after you make your contract assignments, you can place players on IR. But not before assignments are made.

Other than people that are placed on the the actual IR before the season begins, would we have to wait until the official injury reports come out to determine who is questionable, doubtful, etc? I believe that is how the rule is written. So wouldn't this have to wait for the Thursday or Friday before the week's games? The preseason games don't require injuries to be listed as players sit out for all different reasons.

I was looking back on our rule changes voting...we had voted to change the source we use to declare IR, but I am not seeing that we actually decided which source to use. I know we discussed just using what is listed on MFL, but do not see that was voted on. Anyone else seeing any other polls on this?
But without a new vote, then yes, other than being on NFL IR or PUP list, we will have to wait until the first injury reports come out of NFL
