Tom, per the rules, you can only renegotiate a guy with 2 or more years left on his contract. That's why we have the RFA and Franchise tags, so you can retain guys you really want after their contracts reach their final year.

You are correct Tom...you also need to decide if you want to add Smith back as RFA to replace one of the other guys
