I gotta side with Frank on this one, and I don't think it's close. To me, there were two crucial flaws with Brian's side of the deal, but time will tell.

I'm admittedly out of the loop player wise, but the deal doesn't look too bad for the Avengers IMO. Amish IM'd me about it thinking Frank fleeced my replacement, but I don't really have many issues with the deal.

Meachem has been a disappointment. Probably too early to give up on him, but not a huge thing.

Jacobs/Ward for MJD is a push. If anything I like Jacobs/Ward to provide steadier production.

The RFA's are what they are. I don't place huge stock in them (though I'm a HUGE Boldin fan).

Winslow is the piece I don't like to see him part with, but he had what, 2 years left on his deal? If he makes something of the 1.6 iit might be worthy.

Looks to me klike Avengers is restocking the team in his own image. I'm OK with that.

Failing to get Bradshaw prevents MJD for Jacobs/Ward from being a push. Look at Bradshaw's production from last year and tell me Ward is Jacobs' handcuff.

RFA's are what they are, but players worthy of a higher tag are worth more, Frank wins on that account again.

It is too early to give up on Meachum, is he worth the 1.6? Probably not, but who knows who's going to be at 1.6 with any value. Most likely you're looking at another WR, unless a QB lands at a great spot. All the RBs with value will be gone. Brian win's this, but gains no more than he gave up with the RFAs value-wise.

That leaves Winslow as a throw in. The best TE (based on dollars/point) in the Frenzy for the next two years (my prediction, which I don't think is a big stretch). Big loss there.

Had Brian gotten the 1.3 and/or gotten Bradshaw, I'd like this deal a lot more.

Valid points I guess.

I'm too out of the loop to really tell. By the looks of it, Winslow is in the last year of his deal for the 2008 season, so it's not too bad.

I see the 1.6 for Winslow with an unproductive Meachem as the throw in. Too early to give up on Meachem IMO, but again, not a huge loss unless he really turns things around.

True, I was thinking Winslow had two years left. That mitigates things a little bit, but it's still not close in my book.

I see Dodger's point and I do have trader's remorse for not including Bradshaw in the deal.

However, Ward was on IR when Bradshaw was doing his thing, so Ward might in fact be the handcuff - I don't think that will be decided until training camp. Otherwise, my assessment of the trade aligns pretty closely with what the Preds have already said, and I appreciate the vote of confidence from my predecessor.
As for Meachem, sounds to me like he was in the dog house all year, and it appears he was a healthy deactivation even after the Saints were out of it - I considered him a zero in the trade.

I obviously like the deal form my side, but like Mike pointed out it's close. The main thing is I already have picks 1.1 and 1.3 and a loaded TS so the and teh 1.6 is usually projected to be a bit of a project (although I did grab Portis 1 year)... so I focused on getting most talent out of 1.6 that I could get.

MJD for Jacobs/Ward is a push IMO... MJD is a better talent, has a longer contract, but will cost 2x more than Jacobs by himself and about the same as Jacobs and Ward together. Jacobs actually performed better last year than MJD in ppg (19 vs 15) and Derrick Ward was a beast when Jacobs was out. Ward also has a 3 year deal @ around 600, but is only signed with the Giants for 1 year... so he has some potential value down the line.

Boldin is an upgrade long-term over Driver, Meachum is a throw in, and Winslow only has 1 year left (and he already has Gates on roster).

Right now, who knows what the 1.6 will be worth.... we'll get a better gauge after the NFL draft.

Overall I think it's a deal that both teams like.

BTW Ahmad Bradshaw is on the block!!
