Should we allow contract renegotiation for traded players only, similar to SAC'd rule

Here is how the rule is written in SAC'd - a player with less then 1 year means after contracts have rolled over basically - so they are shown with a 1 for years in the App and MFL:

"A player with less than one year remaining on his contract can have his contract renegotiated if he is traded to another team. Once traded, the contract can be renegotiated with a raise of 5% or 150cb to the current year salary, whichever is greater. The contract can be extended up to the standard maximum of five years."

As SAC'd has a 20,000cb salary cap, do we want to make it 100cb or 5%? Top WR salaries are generally about 1000cb less in Frenzy than SAC'd for example. RB's can be double (I paid 6500cb for LT in his prime)

Let's discuss this one before a poll is created...either poll it as written, or adjust the increase. I think that most teams are not looking to go to full Renegotiation rules like SAC'd, but I think this may create more trading fun.

I'd be willing to consider it... but to be honest, I really like the idea that in Frenzy, it's actually POSSIBLE to get any player you want. You may have to bid up a RFA to new heights, but it's still possible. My fear is that if we adopt a renegotiation clause, that will pretty much go out the window... and teams will be able to keep players forever.

Show me how I'm wrong...

Well, people aren't just going to start trading players for no reason..you would have to get some value back...

For example....would I have traded MJD to you without getting some value back? No...I would have just kept him, and RFA'd him

What prevents you from keeping your RFA players forever? Don't you already have that option....just keep matching the highest bid..

With a trade, the player is now with a different team....so you keep him for 5 years..trade him to another team for possibly 5 years...

Ever since you SAC'D folks brought it up, I've had it in my mind that a team could keep renegotiating players till the cows come home... forever and ever... amen.

I missed the part in my initial post that it's only for TRADED players. So a player would still only have the maximum of 5 years with a team.

I'd be okay with that, I guess.

So I can swap AP for CJ2K and we can both lock them up for another five years without anybody else ever getting a shot at the two players?

Voted NO.

Renegotiation is a part of SACD, I really don't enjoy it since it essentially guarantees stud players never hit the open market. It's part of SACD so I exploit the crap out of it, but I'd rather not have it in Frenzy if it's implemented like it is in SACD.

Ideally, I believe rookie contracts can NEVER be reneged so only UFA/RFAs can be reneged. Also a player should only be reneged ONCE in their tenure and only for a MAX of and added 2 years.

Players need to hit FA of some sort at one point in their careers and as it stands in SACD there are plenty of players in their prime that will never ever see the market, which is a big no no IMO.

Just a reminder, gang... there's no "official vote" yet. We're just "testing the waters," so to speak.

Frank's just not a very good poker player..he likes people to know up front what he's holding :-)

But, he has some very good points...I would be up for a modified version of the SAC'd rule...I too think it is a bit excessive to allow you to reneg your own players...I think it would help to allow it for traded players...but I like the 2 year limit..that makes sense..than at least you get an extra year out of the player you trade for in mid season...I like the rookie rule, but that just adds more work for Patrick as keeper of the App....

I'd be in favor of getting ONE extra year out of a traded player once!

I like the idea of renegs and overall would love to see the Frenzy adopt a matching rule set (minus IDP aspects of course) as the SAC'd.
