Just realized we're already at week one of the playoffs. I apologize for not doing this sooner... but I need to post the playoff brackets. Getting my kids to school right now, will put this up in about an hour.
Also... just a reminder... those teams eliminated from the playoffs cannot be bidding on any players. AND... all players acquired now automatically revert to a ONE YEAR contract. More details about the playoffs shortly. |

What are you talking about Jim? This is last week to determine who goes to the playoffs. Slow down man....breathe in the sweet, fresh Hawaiian air....I'll let you have Westy if that will help ;-)

... thought we were in week 14 already. And you've won yourself Westy. I was only able to go about 1150 without having to cut any current players. |

I thought about cutting one of my other backup RBs...
But with Westy's bum ankle... and his needing to split carries with Dixon... I figured I might as well take a chance on my other guys (Goodson & Ivory), and ride it out. |

IF you get a player on Tuesday... yes, you can only assign one year (AND those players are NOT RFA eligible).
However, since this is the END OF IN-SEASON FREE AGENCY, I believe the bidding ends at 11:59pm EST tonight. So there is no Tuesday bid. I just reread the rules, and this is not specifically stated. However, it is stated that those are the rules for the transition from OFF-SEASON to IN-SEASON FREE AGENCY. It would make logical sense to me that this would pertain to the in-season period, too... as POST-SEASON FREE AGENCY can only be bid on by playoff-bound teams... AND those bids end at 11:59pm Saturday night each week, too. SO... whoever has the highest bid tonight at 11:59pm is the winner of Mr. Romo's "services". |

Here are the rules..not sure what isn't clear?
12G. Post Season Free Agency Post season free agency will work slightly differently that in season free agency. As there are two weeks of playoffs, there are two separate weeks of post season free agency. The first week will be from the Tuesday, 12:00 am after the games for week 14. The only teams eligible to bid on free agents at that time will be the four playoff teams (as described previously). All bidding on any players opened after that Tuesday will end the following Saturday at 11:59 PM. The final bid immediately previous to the deadline will be the winning bid. The player in question will be placed on the winning teams roster with a 1 year contract only. The winning team must comply with the usual salary cap, roster cap, and roster year requirements, and the standard penalties will apply for noncompliance. The second week of post season free agency will begin Tuesday 12:00 am after the first round of playoffs. The only teams eligible to bid on free agents at that time are the two winners from the previous week. Again, the bid deadline is 11:59 pm the following Saturday, and the final bid for each player is the winning bid. The player in question will be assigned a one year contract only. The winning team must comply with the usual salary cap, roster cap, and roster year requirements, and the standard penalties will apply for noncompliance. Also note, that for either of the above two post season situations; for players involved in Saturday games, the clock will expire the evening prior to their game(s) at 11:59pm on Friday. NOTE: All free agents signed in the post season will be assigned a one year contract only. Also, these players CANNOT be tendered as RFAs the following spring.

Well, for starters....the above is for a four-team playoff. So, clearly old and I have learned not to trust anything in the MFL rules that might not be up-to-date.
More problematic, however: the language does not address the Romo situation at all, which is a bid made in Week 13 that would normally carry into Week 14. What rules apply? Who is eligible to bid? Who is elligible to win a bid? Then, add rule 9B to 12G above. When does Week 14 start - first game kickoff or before that? And why do non-playoff teams have unfrozen rosters until the kickoff of Week 14 games? Jim's solution addresses the issues perfectly and I think should be formally added to the rules. |

So I made an executive decision based on the Romo situation. I PM'd all owners who had at least one bid on the current Romo thread, letting them know about the 11:59pm EST deadline tonight. We'll add it to the rules revisions... when we change the 4-team playoff section, too! ;) |

Bids made prior to the deadline have always been allowed to play out normally...the freeze is supposed to be on new players being bid on after the deadline. At least we have always done it that way in SAC'd, and SAC'd rules mirrored Frenzy, so I don't see why this would be different? You can't just tell non-playoff teams they are not allowed to continue to bid on a players started in the allowed time frame....

Nope. He's got a SOLID team... just was unlucky during the regular season. My team, on the other hand, should have lost a TON of games, and somehow managed to survive. Despite having the best record, I don't think I'm the favorite to win the trophy this year (especially now that Gore's out for the season... yikes!).

Yah, we'll see..my luck has not been the best, and Llamas and Reds have been putting up some monster numbers lately also....and of course we can't count out the swagger of being defending champ....
Should be some good 'offs!!

I just have to say... CRAP! Was really not looking forward to another round vs. the Chuncks. Clearly, the Llamas aren't the best team in the playoffs, but with my group of WR scrubs and a good dose of "any given Sunday", let's get it on!!

We all have good players... ON SOME WEEKS... and others who just disappear. It'll be a crap shoot to see who puts 2-3 weeks of good football together.

Thank you, Burt. I still maintain you were the best team out there, but so goes FF.
I realize I am probably an extreme minority on this one, but is there, by chance, any support for converting to a total points league with playoffs counting double? |

Won't get my vote. Wouldn't mind the total points leader get guaranteed a playoff spot.

Reds appears to have the championship in the bag, but its been a quirky year, so who know...
AP and Roddy White need to outscore Percy Harvin by more than 13.4 points.... Good luck to both teams!! should be an exciting finish!!

The INSECTS are making a game of this! Right now the REDS' lead has shrunk to a mere 4 points... and we've got an entire 2nd half to play! Woo-hoo!

The REDS closed it out. Congratulations! It took me until my 2nd season in this league to win my first championship. Way to do it in "year one!"
