I believe we're in week 4 status now that all week 3 games have concluded... but expect him to still be on the list when tomorrow's injury report comes out.

Or did you have to have this designation prior to that?

Excerpt from Rule #10:

"Each team has a maximum of two (2) injured reserve slots. For a player to be put on IR he must be listed as Questionable, Doubtful or Out on any NFL.com weekly injury reports."

So any NFL.com injury report should suffice.

I don't think it means any injury report for the entire season, though. I believe it's for the current week. We sure wouldn't want an owner putting a guy on the IR during week 8 just to free up room on his squad, when the NFL player was listed as "questionable, doubtful or out" back in week 2.

But as the rules seem to be a big ambiguous here, I'll allow this IR designation.

How would you justify telling someone who wants to place a player on IR in Week 8 based on a report from Week 2 that he can't do that? You would be changing the rules on him in the middle of the season.

Let's be wise and prevent problems before they occur, instead of wait. Fix the hole with an immediate vote or decide to let the hole stay open for everyone until the off-season.

Um, not to sound sarcastic... but basic common sense. Seriously, it seems strange to me to think otherwise! The rule is there to allow people to move injured players (or at least dinged-up players) to IR in order to free up space for a replacement while that player is out. To allow someone IR a player at any point in the season, as long as they'd been on the injury list at some point prior, seems to be manipulation. Period.

GREAT POINT! I'll put something up right now for immediate vote.

In the meantime, I've already said that I'll allow this particular IR transfer to be made.

I would say that until the current weeks report comes out, you use the prior week only..my opinion...

Wow, not so trigger-happy. The rules clearly say "any injury report." You are already prepared to accuse of manipulation someone who will try to follow the rules? And if you choose to disregard this part of the rules because it doesn’t agree with your common sense, how do I know you won’t disregard any other part when you decide it doesn’t say what you think it should say? That's a very slippery slope.

For what it's worth, note that I don’t think your common sense is the problem here – it is that, long time ago, not enough thought was given to formulating the rules. They should still be respected, though.

What if it said "the last available NFL.com injury report for the respective team"? That will typically cover the period Friday-to-Friday and also give consideration to bye weeks.

I will vote for whatever change is proposed. Also, I will cut Jerome Harrison immediately, if the approved change makes him non-IR eligible.

The person who put the rules together for both Frenzy and SAC'd is not active in these leagues anymore (Mr Preds) - he would usually chime in when 'intent' behind the rule was questioned.

To make it easy for those of us who maintain the websites, would it make sense to go off of how MFL has a player listed at the time an owner would like to place that person on IR? The NFL plays so many games with this report, maybe that would be best. Than, when the site maintenance person goes to verify a player being IR eligible, they can go based off how the site has the player listed that he is using to place him on IR.

Thoughts?

Jim, see my post in the poll....In Season rule changes need to be unanimous...how can anything other than Yes/No be unanimous? I think a multiple choice vote is set up for almost guaranteed failure....

Zdravko... not accusing you at all. Just was stating my opinion as an owner, not commissioner.
You're correct that it was written poorly from the start... I just never realized it until now.

I don't know how many more times I can say this... but
HARRISON IS ALREADY APPROVED TO BE ON IR!
Le'ts put that issue to rest.

truly sorry, this all came out much harsher than i intended. i guess all i am saying is: let's fix the rule quickly and move on, but if we can't do that - then let's honor the rule currently on the books, flawed as it may be.

on harrison - if we pass a rule change that would have made him ineligible, then i will cut him just, so that i am not taking advantage of the later-closed loophole. i do understand i dont have to cut - but i would just feel better that way.
