TE Jermichael Finley Packers - RULING that Finley is a Freedom

100

Let me know if he's taken. I'm kind of shooting blind without a free agency reference - he's not listed as rostered on the website.

Taken. He is on my PS/TS (wherever the 4th rounders go).

Did you get a new copy of the roster app?

Yes I did. I'll sort through lineups before posting another option.

It looks like Finley ended up on the Mutts roster. I think he should still be on me TS/PS (whichever is for the 4th rounders). Thanks!

Looks like you intentionally or unintentionally forgot to declare him...

Looks like I forgot to make a declaration on this LAST year when it came up.
After looking into the situation, FINLEY was the Freedom's only 4th round pick in the 2008 draft. However, he also had a 2007 4th round pick (Darius Walker) and a 2006 4th rounder (De'Arrius Howard). Looking back now, it seems like a no-brainer that Finley would be the guy to keep. However, if Matt would have declared a contract for Finley, he'd have to have cut someone from his PS. Since he didn't do that, I'm going to have to declare that he's not a Philadelphia Freedom... thus available for FA.

Let the bidding wars begin...

Actually you did declare that he would go to the Freedom as the Roster App states. It looks like whoever assigned him in MFL just placed him on the Mutts squad instead of correctly assigning him to mine. Thanks.

I don't mean to be argumentative, Matt.... but if you can show me where I made the declaration, that would help the situation. From everything I've seen, no decision was made.

Can the Mutts give some input? According to the 2009 Frenzy League page JFinley was on Mutt's active roster but never started - is that a misprint or does Jake feel that Finley is his? He played well enough at the end of last season that it seems Jake would have concidered starting him if he felt that was an option...

The way I see if Finley should be a FA, unless someone finds where a ruling was made on this.

He wasn't declared by Freedom after '08 draft (not sure how he ended up on Roster App but was there before I took it over)

Mutts posted a bid that was never resolved...and even if won, no years were declared

...thus I think he's a FA

Sucks but I agree with this. I don't see any other way because he was never declared in the 1st place and it took a whole year before he even noticed.

MFL is not an accurate site to look for history.

Matt showed me where he cut the other PS squad player (Howard) prior to the 2008 draft, thus there would have been room on his PS squad for Finley. Also, the roster app last year had Finley as a Philadelphia Freedom.

This is going to be one of those "spirit of the law" vs. "letter of the law" rulings by me. While technically Matt didn't declare Finley in his declarations thread of 2008... it's obvious that any of us, if we had room on our PS, would want our one and only 4th round pick to be on that. Had there been no room, I would have to say Finley's a FA. But given what I know now... I'm reversing my earlier post (see above) and saying he should remain a Philadelphia Freedom.

Also, the 2009 roster app had him down on the PS squad... and the 2010 app shows 3 years remaining on his contract, with a $121 salary.
