Buccaneers 6.10 RB Cory Boyd, TB

With all the other 'PS' running backs being snapped up, I am not sure why this guy is still on the board? He is a big downhill RB with good vision and a quick cut that could be effective at the NFL level. He could easily project as a short yardage specialist or as mixed up as that backfield is in Tampa Bay, who knows how it could all pan out? I am very happy to get this guy with this pick!

His name was typed in when I was picking the other night and then I decided to take the long named Pats back.

Whoops! Good for me, bad for you. I had this kid on my list since Round 4, but figured I could get him in the 6th, so THANKS for passing on him, it would've been my only 'miss' of the draft... Here I'll post some stuff for you like Preds does:

Quote:
Well-built athlete with the frame to add additional mass. ... Lacks elite acceleration and breakaway speed, but possesses all of the other characteristics scouts are looking for in a potential starting caliber NFL runner. ... Good size. ... Good initial quickness to and through the hole. ... Good agility to make defenders miss in the hole. ... Good vision to recognize cut-back lanes and can effectively jump-cut to either side to generate extra yards. ... Strong runner with good body lean, though he can run too erect, at times. ... Good spin move. ... Flashes a tough stiff arm. ... Reliable receiver out of the backfield. ... Isn't used just as a check-down option. ... Often used on bubble screens and has the athleticism to be effective on wheel routes. ... Tracks the ball easily and has the flexibility to catch poorly-thrown passes. ... Willing on blitz pick-up. ... Has seen action throughout his career at South Carolina, but with less than 600 total touches he is still on relatively fresh legs.

Yah, sounds almost as good as this guy:

"Big, powerful ball carrier who controls games or breaks them wide open. Patient back who displays vision at the line of scrimmage or down the field. Possesses some wiggle and juke in his runs, sets up defenders, making them miss at the point. Very tough to bring down.

He has all the physical skills to be a premier NFL back. Must pick up the tempo of his blocking. A franchise running back when hitting on all cylinders. "

Just like you, I am sure Chicago was all when they drafted him 3 years ago......

Exactly my point son! Sounds like 1st round stuff.. and I am not saying that I am not taking a 'flyer' on him, because I am! But lets be honest taking McFadden with the first pick overall is taking a 'flyer' as well... Except (unlike your example) I only 'invested' a 6th round pick..
