Bengals 2.06 LB Keith Rivers Bengals

I've got to go with the top player on my board here, regardless of need. Rivers will join a growing stable of LBs with the Mutts, including Ray Lewis, Rocky McIntosh, Angelo Crowell, Julian Peterson, Chad Greenway, Lawrence Timmons and Justin Durant.

Rivers should take over the WILL in the new Mike Zimmer 4-3 defense. I think he has the tools to do well.

I can't believe he is the 3rd LB off the board.. Nice pick.

Agreed he should have been vying for 1st off the board for LBs, but I also can't believe 3 LBs are off the board after the lengthy discussion last off season on drafting defensive players too early in the draft...and most of that centered around taking them in the 3rd or so. Go figure.

I'm not saying this to justify my pick, because my pick was just a homer pick, and not a value pick. But, the result of the discussion was the lowering of the starting salary for LBs, making them a justifiable value at any point in the draft (equal to other positions) instead of the previously cost prohibitive salary to draft early in the draft. Of course, this doesn't change whether or not you should take a LB at this point, but strategically I'm sure you could find at least 6 teams that wouldn't have taken whoever was drafted at each spot since the firt half of the 1st round.

With the lowering of the salaries, it makes it much easier to take a flier on a top LB at this point of the draft. At least you are getting the top players at the position, instead of taking a flier on a 2nd/3rd tier WR/RB, who will most likely ride the PS/TS for their entire contract. But to each his own I guess. My 2nd round LB worked out pretty well for me, much better than any of your 2nd round WR/RB's.....

I stuck it in the rules; under rookie draft I believe....you were supposed to read them and let me know if everything was correct...
