Popes get:
1.9 pick V. Jackson (200/1) 2009 2nd round Dodgers get: 1.8 pick C. Benson (639/2) A. Peterson - Chi (138/1) D. Stallworth (721/2) Stallworth is a dump, so basically I get a 2nd rounder, a dump, and Jackson as a cheap WR, Brian gets Benson/Peterson and a one-spot move up in the 1st round. I have both teams calculated as within the cap with this trade. Brian to confirm. |

This might not be that bad. If Benson becomes totolly worthless, he turns into a dump as well and I can cut bait on him that much sooner.

Agreed. I've always thought Adrian Peterson (Chi version) would be a capable starting RB for the Bears, hence me always making sure I had him handcuffed to Benson. This increases the possibility that you end up with an NFL starter for $138.

Yeah it just sticks that Benson couldn't pull his head out in the NFL. I liked him a lot in Texas but it just goes to show how some people can't handle the NFL as a "job" and do dumb stuff.

That's why I thoughtthis was a fantasic deal for Popes.
They get out of a major cap bind for the price of dropping down 1 spot and trading away CHI #2 and #3 RBs. Stallworth will be a decent WR, but Vincent Jackson could do just as well and a cheaper price, so that's a wash. And to make it even better for Popes and worse for Dodgers.... is he gave up a 2nd round pick!!!
