1.06 TE Jeremy Shockey, NY Giants

The Philadelphia Freedom, in their inaugural rookie draft in the Feeding Frenzy League, select stud TE Jeremy Shockey from the NY Giants.

The Freedom were approached repeatedly about sliding down and were able to withstand the temptation and stick to their game plan. This was a choice that was decided on about a week and a half ago, however with rumors of the Undead grabbing him at 1.2 the Freedom talked with a number of teams about a trade down. Once he made it past 1.2 they realized that we could not risk a Seahawk-like debacle and held fast.

Some feel that this is too early to take a TE, but Freedom owner Matt Marshall addressed this after the pick. “We feel that Jeremy is the kind of talent that does not come along too often. We also felt that with 2 top 10 picks we wanted to watch our spending. We can sign Jeremy to a four-year deal and never have to pay him more than $400 in any given season. This was a value that we could not pass up at this point!”

BDSC would like to congratulate the Freedom on a great pick. We were hoping Shotkey would fall to us at 1.8 but I guess we were out of luck. Welp, time to go shopping elsewhere I suppose.
