SAC'D Vet Auction
Ok. Since the Draft is nearly complete.
We really better start discussing this some more.:feedback There have been recommendations to start auction in a week. What are people's thoughts on that. I think we have it set that each team can only add two players. You can only add another player to auction when one of your original players auctions have ended. Not sure if we discussed it, but CDL has no cap limit for off-season. Now, you have to be under cap before season starts and if you have to cut players - you will be assessed the cap hit. Is that the same for Frenzy? Not sure if there is anything I missed...I'm sure there is. Last edited by Preds; May 6th, 2005 at 09:42 AM. Reason: edited title |

I would suggest a start next week or the week after.
I'd also suggest that each team nominate 1 IDP and 1 IOP through the 1st 12 "rounds". If your IDP sells you replace him with another IDP. If your IOP sells you put up another IOP. After 12 IDP's have sold that you've started the bidding on, then you switch to IOP's. |

Do you HAVE to have two players nominated? Once one of your players sells, how long do you have to nominate another player?
To Rami's question, you always have to be at/under the cap in SAC'D. The cap is enforced in the off season, so if you acquire a player in the veteran auction that puts you over the cap, you only have 24 hours to cut a player to get back into compliance. |

Yes, when we did this to start CDL a couple years back we required everyone to nominate 2 players at a time and always keep 2 players in the mix. I think teams had 24 hours to nominate a new player once an existing one ahd sold. Skip might remember more how we did this, but I know it worked well.
Now if you want to leave some roster flexibilty, we can say that every team must nominate at least 25 players (the SAC'D roster minimum I believe)... that'd be 13 IOP and 12 IDP. After that we could let it be a come or go situation. |

These ideas make sense to me. I would suggest a 5-16 start date since that should give us a full 5 business days to get used to how this will before we hit our first weekend. This should also gives guy a chance to start thinking about how they want to go about their selections.

I actually like the 5/16 date because it lets me get some work done before I know my production will go down the :shitagain.
I personally like the idea of IDP/IOP each until IDP is done, then able to switch and also that we should only have to minimum of 25 (then a little more open!). PS. noted edit on title, Preds. Good call.:newhere |

This all sounds good to me. I like nomination requirements, having 2 guys ont he board and 12 IDP's first.
Also, I would recommend putting a post together that outlines all the rules when we are finished though, in the Auction forum when it's up and running. |

I don't think we need the restriction of 12 IOP and 12 IDP. What is the benefit?

Also, are the rules complete? Is there a word doc somewhere for download?

I'd like to see a complete breakdown of scoring rules. I'll need some time with those rules before we begin a vet auction.

I'd prefer to wait at least a week....I'd vote for 2...not so sure I like the 1 IOP 1 IDP per person. If we do that, then I definitly want to wait 2 weeks. Sounds like we have another couple of freaking polls here!! |

Declaration on rookies (as well as contract years) are not due until the end of the off-season free agency period (late August... don't have the specific date handy). Right now they don't count for or against.
You basuically have the 1st 3 preseason games to evaluate them, before deciding their contract years and whther to make them Practice, Taxi, or Active. Th Monday after the 3rd preseason game (4th for the few teams that play 5) is when all the declarations are due. |
