Another name idea could be

Shark Attack Contract Dynasty (SAC'D)

along with the one Jake liked:

Shark Attack Fantasy Tacticians (SAFeTy)

For now, I've relabled the forums and what not with a new working name -

Shark Attack Contract Dynasty (SAC'D)

This name has really grown on me. We can hold a vote if you all feel necessary, but not many have shown any creativity lol. So what do yo all think? SAC'D seems a fitting acronym for an IDP league, and the meaning is in line with the spirit of the Frenzy league.

Throw in the Pat Tillman idea here as well. Whether as part of the league name (Pat Tillman Memorial IDP Leauge) or as one of the divisions.

How about SAC'D for the name, and Tillman in the logo?

I respect everything Tillman was and did, but if the name is SAC'D, don't you think TIllman being in the logo would be questionable? He was a DB. How many career sacks did he have?

For a logo, I was thinking something along the lines of a shark's mouth clamping down on a football, with "Shark Attack" above and "Contract Dynasty" below the mouth, and SAC'D written inside the football.

I think Tillman can go in division or team name.

I agree with Preds on the logo/name being tough to put Pat into the theme. Like you're idea Preds.

I'm cool with the Division theming... in fact since Matt proposed it, the East can be the Tillman division ;)

You suckers in the central and west need to come up with your own former player that can measure up to all that he was (good luck ;))

I hope I am included in that mighty division. I'm loving SAC'D, too. Not that it looks like my inclusion mattered, but just to be on the record. mp

Former Paints LB and Panthers LB Coach Sam Mills passed away today of intestinal cancer.

He was a class act on and off the field who was respected for his hard work ethic and toughness. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...v=ap&type=lgns

some telling quotes

Quote:
"He was the type of guy you want your kids to grow up to be.''
- Panthers GM Marty Hurney
Quote:
``I remember him being the toughest little man I've ever seen in my life. He was mighty mouse -- he'd hit you hard as he could every time he hit you. When he had a bum knee one time, he still showed up every day. He pushed you. Looking at him doing it made you know you better put out. If a little man like that worked so hard and put out, you better put out for all you were worth. He always inspired me to do better, to work harder, to be better.''
-former Saints linebacker Rickey Jackson

There are several other great quotes on Mills in the article above.

He might be fitting to have a division named after him (along with Tillman), if we're going with a theme honoring Deceased NFL players who were as great off the field as they were on it.

RIP Sam.

OK... point taken.. Sometimes sarcasm is not in order. :thumbsdow I think it is a great theme. True heros are a very rare commodity and unfortunately, they usually end up being just that in the end. I will gladly put in some real introspective thought to the theme and I do appologize if I offended.

*crickets*

SIKE... You think I really give a .
Still though... I like the theme

BTW... Very nice story on Coach Mills.. Hell of a man

If we're going on the recently deceased, good person inspiration, I can think of no better nominee for the west that Reggie White. Good person; check. Recently deceased; check. Plus he has the added bonus of being the sack master.

I like it Brian very nice.

With Tillman, Mills, and White we'd be honoring 3 class acts who ironically played each of the IDP positions (DB, LB, DL).

Should we put this up for vote?

East = Tillman
Central = Mills
West = White

Gents, I think we have nailed it here. Great execution and hopefully a subtle reminder over time about what really important in life (BTW, I have to tell myself stuff like this since I have been not been doing so well lately with the FF).

I'd hate to burst your bubble...but I'm going to. We in the central division have been discussing a division name since it was brought up yesterday, and had decided on Butkus for our division name. Since it's our division, it's our choice, but thanks for offering to name it for us.

But Butkus doesn't fit with the theme... he's still alive and making crappy TV shows (at least as far as I recall).

Did anyone in the central approve of a theme?

Shouldn't the theme be IDP?

An erectile dysfunction commercials. Are you really sure you want this man to be how your division is defined?

If not Mills, how about someone else that fits the theme? I'm sure there is a roll of guys that were honorary enough to get the name.

Well, there seemed to be quite a bit of sentiment towards honoring Tillman, and we gravitated towards honoring recently deceased players who were great off the field as well as on it.

I s'pose we could be fair and hold a vote for the "official theme" if you'd like. No problem on my end there.

I think the theme of being deceased is just an afterthought. Being a true geographical centralite, I can think of few players who better personify was it is to be a defensive player than Butkus. And this coming from a Vikings fan. Now if they had floated something like Singletary, we would have had a problem.

We were looking at someone "centrally" located throughout their football career, but I suppose if the powers that be want a "deceased theme", I'm sure we can find someone who fits both. Any input from my fellow Central foes?

Agreed. Why does the guy have to be dead? I really don't think we need to narrowly define a theme through voting - just keep it defensive players and let each division define themselves how they choose. If you want to honor a fallen player, go ahead, but we'd like to honor an elite football player.

I actually strongly supported the Tillman division (would have liked it myself). And, Reggie White is also a great recommendation -- on and off the field. Once again, I was not on top of my game to think of that one.

However, as Swords mentioned, we had been e-mailing each other about division name before the deceased thing came up. We had all voted for Butkus because of his relation to NFL Central location and he was one of the best out there. There were several other names brought up as well, but they were all living.

I have no issue with East having Tillman and West having White. Both are great.

To keep with team/league spirit I will put it to a vote.
