Indiana Undead at Philadelphia Freedom: No playoff implications for this game, just draft seeding at stake at this point. The Undead lead this series 6-1 lifetime, losing only in week 11 of 2002. The Undead average 119.5 points to the Freedom’s 106.1 in the series. The Undead have scored over 104 points in each game, and the Freedom’s only victory came with their highest score in the series, 134.1. Edge: Undead
Parkwood Predators at Royal Hawaiian Opihi. The Predators are in the playoffs, and the Opihi are out, but can affect the seeding of the Preds. The Preds (foolishly) covet the #2 seed, but good sportsmanship prevent them from throwing the game. The Opihi will do their best to give them what they want, and get some bragging rights out of it. The Preds lead the series 6-1 lifetime, with the Opihi’s only victory coming in week 7 of 2003. The Preds average 120.2 points in the series to the Opihi’s 107. Edge: Preds. Soap Box Derby Cars at Wonder Mutts. Wonder Mutts are playing for the Division title and #1 post season seed. They control their own desiny, but have clinched a post season birth regardless. The Derby Cars lead the series 4-3, winning 4 in a row prior to losing week 1 this season. The Derby Cars average 114.1 points to 94.7 for the Mutts in the series. The Mutts have played some of their worst game ever against the Derby Car franchise, scoring 65 points in a 2002 meeting, and 54.35 in a 2003 game. The Derby Cars have only 3 victories this season, but I smell an upset. Edge: Derby Cars. Liquid Swords at Jersey Toxic Waste: The Liquid Swords have clinched a post season birth, but be it a wild card or Divisional Champ has yet to be determined. The Waste lead the lifetime series 4-3, and have won the last two meetings. The Waste average 125.8 points to 119.4 for the Swords in the series. History is on the Waste’s side, but one cannot discount the Swords as the leading point scorer in the Frenzy this far. Edge: Swords. Brain Dead Squirrel Chasers at Urza’s Ragers: The Ragers are fighting for their playoff lives. After taking an early 3 game lead over the Dodgers, they find themselves tied and needing a victory along with a Dodgers loss to reach the post season promise land. The Chasers dominate this series 6-1, and average 125.5 points to 95.8 for the Ragers in head to head games. The Ragers haven’t beaten the Chasers since week 7 of 2001. I don’t see anything changing in that respect. Edge: Chasers. Nittany Dodgers at Bay Area Bloodsucking Insects: The Dodgers miraculously find themselves in first place in the West for the first time since they were known as the Rabid Garbage Dogs, and under previous management. A win and they are in, but a loss will still put them in if the Ragers fail. The Insects lead the series 4-3, and have won the last three meetings. The Insects average 111.3 points to the Dodgers 101.3 in the series. History is not on their side, but I don’t see the Dodgers backing in to the post season, I see them earning their spot this week with a slim victory. Slight Edge: Dodgers. |

Great write-up Sam, but I noticed a little bias peeping out in that "foolishly covert the #2 seed" comment ;)

Preds vs. Opihi... THIS IS OUR BOWL GAME! All week at practice here in the islands, the talk has been about not just beating the Preds, but demolishing them... all of the pent-up frustration at missing the playoffs will be directed to the '03 champs. This game is being played in our house... with NO RAIN in sight (see Undead post from last week)! Bring it on, Mike!!!
PS. Mike, you'll notice that when you arrive at your hotel here in Honolulu, 3 bottles of champaign have been placed in every player's room... along with complimentary tickets to the best luau you'll ever attend, this Saturday night. I've also taken the liberty to reserve spots on the beach Saturday morning & afternoon for your team... along with personal escorts made up of local girls who love football (players). Kick back, relax... enjoy your weekend in the islands... heck, you've "earned it"! |
