Frenzy Week 4 Preview - More Dreaded than Telemarketers...
This is Tank D’Season coming your way again. I never thought my following would be this large and this gig would be as popular. The only problem is, I thought people would want to see if I choose them to win. Instead, it appears, everyone is desiring me to choose AGAINST them…hmmm. Maybe I shouldn’t head out to Vegas just yet.
** Week four roster page is not available, so if I pick someone (generally last week’s roster) you are not starting, you can file a complaint (not telling you with whom or how). First game on the docket is SBDC (0-3) vs Indiana Undead (2-1). Peyton Manning is facing one of his first real challenges since week 1 going against the Jags DT. However, I feel Manning has too many weapons (including a solid running game), he’ll not post last week’s numbers, but still Manningesque. Wow, new word. Brian Westbrook looks forward to regaining his top back status this week against a beat-up Bears DT. And, I actually haven’t heard is Stephen Davis will be playing against Atl. Two of his three starters from last week are on a bye (leaving Toomer to wonder who his teammates will be this week). From what I see, he may have the best week of all SBDC’s WRs. Crumpler should put up some solid numbers since he’s the only one Vick seems to throw to. Either DT SBDC’s puts on the field should do well. Undead will be probably starting Jake the Snake against TB (instead of Cody Pickett) since Joey Harrington is on a bye. Holmes is beaten up and going against Baltimore DT, but he’s Priest – so he’ll do well. Thomas Jones is ripping up the NFL and should continue even against the Eagles. Bennett may actually improve with Volek being QB for the Titans. Chad Johnson and Marvin Harrison will both post solid numbers, but not great. Daniel Graham should have at least one TD and 50 yards this week. Chicago DT is in for a long week against the high-flying Eagles. Prediction: I actually see the WR’s being the difference here, I’m cursing the Undead and predicting them a victory (SBDC rejoice at expecting their first win!) The undefeated Predators are hosting the Swords (2-1) this week. Preds are riding high on Aaron Brooks and hope to continue while they go against Arizona. Barlow is hoping to get back on track against a pathetic Rams DT. Tomlinson should also have a good week against a surprisingly poor Titan DT. Not sure what combination of WR he’s going to put forth, but all four of his top WR should also score very well. He’ll be up in the air to choose between the underperforming Boo Williams or underperforming Dallas Clark. And the Ravens DT will be tough as usual, but concentrating on stopping Priest Holmes. The Swords are dying because they have to put Culpepper on the bench due to a bye week, and starting David Carr in his place. Ahman should run well in the Meadowlands, but we’re not sure who will be the second back (injury to Kevin Jones). Joe Horn should do well, but I expect Rod Smith to get some tough coverage from TB. Not sure who 3rd WR will be. McMichael is almost up to a WR value since he is the only target at Miami. Stover should do well in replacement of Brown. And, either DT will play well. Prediction: First time in three weeks, Predators are predicted to win handily over Daunteless Swords. (I love making up words) The 2-1 BDSC are heading into the City of Brotherly Love to take on the 0-3 Freedom. Sorry I missed the Waiver wire this week, but I’m sure BDSC have gotten a backup for Hasselbeck who has a bye (since Gannon is out). Guess I can’t say how they’re going to play since I don’t know who it is (what kind of investigation is this reporter doing ???) Moving on, the ancient Marshall Faulk is proving me wrong (like many others) and performing well and should continue that trend. Tyrone Wheatly showed up last week and should do well again against a weaker Houston DT. Big hit taken by the Chasers this week in losing Randy Moss to bye week. This really hurts his WR corp. The others need to pick it up from where they have been performing. Jones should do well against NO, but the Jags will have a tough time against the Colts offense. Freedom will hope Leftwich can put up Favre numbers against the weak Colts DBs. My favorite Martin will continue on fresh legs against Miami (are we going to be playing on Sat again???) I’m not sure how much time Chester Taylor will see – it all depends on how bad the KC DT is. Isaac Bruce is putting up stellar numbers this season and should continue. The other WR will do fair. DT has potential to do very well. Prediction: (drum roll, please)….man, I’m sorry Freedom, but you might actually win this week. I’m taking the Chasers to continue Freedom’s losing streak. The Nittany Dodgers (1-2) travel to Hawaii to face the Opihi (2-1). Dodgers are happy to get Chad Pennington back after his bye week. Both Tiki Barber and Duce Staley will put up good numbers against lesser DTs. With Deion Branch questionable for the game, this leaves his WR corp a little thin. Gonzalez is looking forward to building on his performance of last week. Pittsburgh should trouble Carson Palmer. Opihi are looking forward to Bulger going against SF DT. Opihi are also curious as to how Henry will play against NE, but will hope Dunn can continue to run wild. Holt, Lelie and Mason should all have very good days. Elam should pull in some points. Carolina though really tough always seems to have problems with Michael Vick. Not sure how that will go. Prediction: QB’s are a wash, but it’s better RB matchup vs better WR matchups. Generally I would go with the RBs, but I’m going to upset the Opihi and predict them to move to 3-1. Urza’s Ragers (2-1) are on a two game winning streak going against the also 2-1 Wonder Mutts. Urza is hoping Michael Vick goes off against Carolina one more time. He needs it from his underperforming QB. Jamal Lewis should CRUSH KC run defense (of course, everyone thought Dominic Davis would do that same last week, but Lewis is definitely NOT Dominic). Fred Taylor is looking for back-to-back good outings agsainst a weak Colt DT. Eric Moulds may be his best WR match-up this week, which is not saying a lot. Neither DT he puts on the field should fair well, in fact, I see them doing rather poorly. The W Mutts are ignoring the Favre injury concern and look forward to a good week. Dominic Davis’ injury is a concern to the Mutts. It is unknown if Corey Dillon will be coming back to the line after his bye week or will they side with Shanahan and stick with Quentin for another week. TO will go off against Chicago. The other WR will get some points, but nothing to write home about. Gates has a good match-up this week. And the Philly DT will concentrate on stopping Thomas Jones with about 15 men in the box (no fear from passing game). Prediction: Close game of the week. I see Ragers continuing their streak to 3-1 in a nail-biter that comes down to MNF. Finally, the Bay Area BI (2-1) head to the winless JT Waste. The Waste are loving McNabb and look forward to continuing against Chicago. James is going to try to make it two 100 yards games against a tough Jag DT, but I’m not sure if Jags will concentrate on stopping him or stopping Manning (if that’s possible). Waste is in a fix on the other RB. Does he continue with who he was using or plug in the fresh-off-the-gurney Lee Suggs. Glad I don’t have to make that decision. Reggie Wayne should benefit will concentration on Harrison and James. The other two WR are fair. St Louis is hoping to shut-out the 49ers for a second week in a row, but I don’t see it happening with their weak run D. The Insects are looking forward to using their newly acquired QB (since McNair is on the mends). Portis will do well against a banged up Browns DT. It’s up in the air of who he will plug in to replace the bye-week Alexander. Coles should also do well against the Browns and Porter is looking forward to Kerry Collins heaving the pigskin. Once again, slacking in my research, I can’t remember who they picked up to cover for the Dallas bye week on DT. Prediction: I actually see this as the low scoring game of the week. Please don’t send me hate-mail Waste, but I’m going to pick you for the upset mostly due to McNabb. Once again, I didn’t have all the stats and that’s how I see it. Tank D’Season will once again return Tues for the wrap-up and see how we did (hopefully better than last week and the week before…sheesh) Last edited by Preds; September 30th, 2004 at 01:39 PM. |

Good write-up, but there is little to no chance that the Freedom will win. However, if this keeps up the fire sale is scheduled to start at some point next week. If you see someone you like (Martin, Bruce, etc) feel free to make an offer.

See now, THIS week, I think the Swords are going to be far more competitve than you might expect.
I'm actually nervous about this game, the Swords have a very good team IMO, even without CPepp. Great write-up though! BTW, I cleaned up the formatting a little to make it an easier read. Last edited by Preds; September 30th, 2004 at 10:28 AM. |

my bad...the problem was the sheet I printed off was not from last week. It was two weeks ago and I was too lazy to print off the newer one. Raiders should do well, but not that it will change that much in my prediction, but I accept the razzing.

That's alright. I don't think the teams you've predicted to win have been doing so well.

Yikes. At this pace Ramirez won't be submitting picks next week. He'll be on suicide watch from all the flack he's been taking.

hmm not a bad week for you Rami, when all is said and done, you'll be at least 3-3, with a realistic chance at 4-2 or possibly even 5-1 for the week! :thumbsup
