Preds to hold Press Conference Thursday at 8pm

There is no power here at the stadium. With the lack of power and communications, we are sending these updates the old-school way... with hand-written updates couriered outside the blackout zone so we can keep our listeners and readers in the loop.

Despite the weather, AB, Shady, Jordan and GM/Coach Mike were just spotted leaving the Big Tree Inn for the stadium.

NYSEG reports they expect the power to be restored to the stadium soon. Communications remain down.

The power is back on! Internet and communications remain down.

The press conference is still slated to being at 8 PM. The press room is already filling quickly. AB, Shady and Jordan have been spotted in the back corner of the room, laughing with GM/Coach Mike. Smiles are all around.

A lightning strike has taken out a power transformer on Southwestern and Abbot. Just outside the stadium. The team is currently relying on backup generators for power. Internet and communications are currently down.

So much drama!! but the presser will be anticlimactic (we'll already know), however Im sure it will be quite a show. Word is all the Dogs and Ponies will be in attendance (well maybe not mine and Dale's).

Mics are on the podium. The team has moved up the press conference to 7:30 PM. All the major players are present already.

Several team officials just approached GM/Coach Mike. After a flurry of discussion, he stormed out of the room. AB has a flabbergasted look on his face, Jordan Reed is apparently consoling him? Shady appears confused, hell, we're all confused. WTH is going on?

The team has postponed this evening's Press Conference and issued the following statement:

TEAM STATEMENT
We are disheartened to announce that due to this evening's power and communication's outage the Predators were unable to officially communicate the team's signed, 3 year contract extension with star WR Antonio Brown in a timely manner to the league. It was believed that the contract had been properly communicated to the league at 6:52 PM this evening via both fax and email. However, the league has no receipt of either the fax or email. When communications were restored a few minutes ago, the team received failure to send notices from both their email server and fax. As per league rules, the league has informed us that Antonio has been awarded to the Roosters for the teams failure to match within 72 hours and that the decision cannot be appealed despite the evidence of the attempted notification. Antonio, GM/Coach Mike, and the entire Predators organization are shocked and extremely saddened by this unexpected development.

I thought all organizations would have learned from the Broncos losing Elvis Dumervil to the Ravens that relying on "fax technology", especially during severe storms is not the best way for billion-cyber buck organizations to consummate multi-million cyber buck deals in 2018. Due to not getting the paperwork in on time, 7:26pm deadline, the Roosters welcome Mr. Antonio Brown to their organization. He does appear to be a little confused about the whole situation, but did say a change of scenery might do him some good.

Further comments and questions will be fielded once Antonio arrives at the Roosters headquarters.

Associated Press Report out of Card HQ - Chicago, IL...

Red Bird management knew there was gonna be "Something Hinky" coming out of NY today...the advance notice about a 8:00pm announcement was well outside of the norm for a signing of this magnitude. HC Chuck Couch was heard days ago talking about a Denver Bronco debacle type of situation about to go down again...Coach Couch knew that Pred management were well aware of the 7:26 deadline and this was gonna blowup at some point. Card OTA's went about as normal because we knew there was no new news here (hence the late reporting)...Through all the successes of last season Chi-Town had no division title or Frenzy title to fall back on - so it is all on ownership and GM to field a team capable of competing at a higher level....HC Couch will spend June in TX and July in CO to workout rookies and potential UFAs to fill in gaps on his squad...Best of luck to those players moving on to new teams and those fortunate enough to stay with their current squads...

I do give props to the Cards and Zombie Pirates who are telling narratives. So much more fun.

AB faxgate was likely a good thing for the Preds in the long run, but we certainly took some lumps with our worst season in Frenzy history and McCoy being a humongous bust. Maybe serving as RB3 will be better for him in the coming season as he heads into his waning years.
