Per the rules, if you demote an active player back to TS, they have added salary of 25cb per week active. A week is counted once an NFL game has been played. Do Thursday games count? I know we have adjusted for Thursday games in other rules....
Just wondering...

Once you activate a player... whether or not a game has been played, it counts as one week. If I activated player A this past Monday, and he was unfortunate enough to have been the starting QB for the Browns last night... and now is facing season-ending surgery... if I demote him today, it counts for TWO weeks, because he's already played his game. Thus he's already in his next "NFL week."
That's my understanding... though you may be right that we haven't spelled this out clearly in the rules. |

Even if you activate a guy and demote on the same day it counts as 1 week. Once he's played, the next week starts, thus day after game would be 2 weeks to send him down. Also don't forget, once a TS or PS player is activated their salaries are guaranteed even if they're placed back on the TS.

I understand all that...lets use Bernard Pierce as example. I activated him 2 weeks ago...Baltimore has not played a 3rd game yet, only Cleveland and Buffalo.
So if demoted him today, he would only get a 50cb increase? It is not clear, whether its ANY NFL game being player, or the players NFL team having played . The team playing makes more sense.

Our NFL week runs from Tuesday at 12:00am through Monday at 11:59pm, due to the MNF games. That's why bids are frozen Sunday & Monday... end of the NFL week.

But the rule says
"a week is defined as once an NFL game has been played" So Tuesday for pierce is 2nd week just passed...my question is when is his week three? Thursday game, or Baltimore game?

You make a good point, Burt.
It seems like this is another "unclear" point in the rules. What's affected my thinking is this: when CAN you demote a player and still have it count for the current week played? ie. I bring up Jim Brown from my TS on Tuesday. Already, he's got one week on the active, without even a game being played. His game is on Sunday. I only need him for one week. So I want to make sure I demote him before he gets charged with two weeks. If the "NFL week" starts on Tuesday at 12:00am, then do I have to post a demotion sometime after his game on Sunday but before Tuesday at 12am? What if he played on Monday night? Can I only demote him in the hours between the end of MNF and the 12am new start? So I think Burt has a point here. For the CALL UP... any day spent on the active roster = one week. For the DEMOTION... we should only count games played. Therefore, per my Jim Brown example, after his Sunday game (first week active)... I can demote him ANYTIME before the start of his next week's game (whether it's Thursday, Sunday or Monday). Does that make sense? I think that's still within the spirit/intent of the rules. |
