I think my cap hit for cutting him is 39 cb’s since I claimed him at his current contract of 388/1 and the origional team paid the other 39 cb’s at that time (April 22nd).

I was hoping to keep him long enough to see where he ended up but I am too cb strapped for that luxury...

I also am of the understanding that if someone else claimed him at this time then they would have no cap hit (I paid the remaining 39 cb’s when I cut him) if they cut him later.

Is that correct?

No, you will still have the same cap hit. He can be picked up and dropped for the length of his remaining contract and each team will pay 10% cap hit regardless of how many times he is waived and claimed.

This is the paragraph in the rules that I am refering to (Under Waiver Wire section):

If the waived player is claimed, the waiving team receives a credit in the amount of 10% of the current year�s salary (the portion of the cap hit that does not pertain to the signing bonus) to their active roster salary cap. If the claimed player is subsequently released during the length of the same contract, the waiving team will receive a cap hit of only 10% of the current years salary, as the singing bonus is to be considered paid by the original team. If the player is claimed through the waiver wire, the second waiving team will receive the 10% cap credit, and essentially no penalty for releasing the player.

I was going to side with Mike's understanding... but the rules seem to state otherwise. Guess we've never had this scenario before.

We did have this pop up before and 10% cap hit was applied.

so what's the final ruling on this, I see roster app has $78 cap hit for this

10% cap hit.
Should he have been claimed & dropped again, no cap hit, per our (newly rediscovered) rules.
