Interesting. I thought it was the other way around, but I'd still lean towards not unless specifically stated in SACD rulebook. We can always vote on it. If everyone votes one way, i think it can go in immediately; otherwise, it would go in next year. Commish?

I like the NOT declaring right away option, better/simpler if we wait until we make all declarations IMO.

I just don't see the point of requiring someone to declare years when a player already picked is traded while the draft is still going - where in the rules is this stipulated?
Granted Mike wrote the rules, and maybe that was his interpretation, but it just does not make sense to me, you trade a pick before or after the pick is made, same/same to me...

I mean if you sign an RFA, while not declaring years, you have to have salary cap space for the player - you trade, them, then makes sense to assign years.

Rookie picks are a whole other animal...they are just floating out there in limbo, not on active roster or TS/PS yet, and we do not need to clear space either way, so really makes no sense to have to declare years of placement just because they are traded before declarations.
Now the argument can be made for this AFTER the draft is over...

If someone disagrees, we can definitely vote on this for next year, but for now, no declartion needs to be made by Chixeau.

I think the only thing still undecided is what position Chop Robinson is. I added him as a LB, but I've seen him as both a LB and EDGE.

We use what's designated in MFL which uses FantasySharks for "true position." They list Chop as DE so he would be classified as a DL in SACD:

That could potentially change prior to start of the season, which I believe MFL then locks into that position for the season. But for now and for draft purposes he would be a DL.

NFL.com has him listed as DE - but when you drafted him, both LB and DL salaries were bottomed out at 100cb, so made no difference.

We go with MFL designation for starting lineups, and as Patrick said, once the season starts, I do not believe they make any further changes to players positions, regardless of what the actual NFL teams do.

Yes, see below for general guidance on this. We generally make position changes in the off-season about once a month based on anticipated formations for each NFL team. The last set of changes will be sometime in August, after which point you would have to manually change any players that you need or want to change for your league.

Why is a player listed at the wrong position? Or, what happens if a player changes the position he plays during the season?

Player positions are updated periodically during the preseason from the depth charts at FantasySharks.com. Once the regular season starts, we no longer make player position changes. Your league commissioner can change a player's position if needed by using the For Commissioners > Setup > Players and Rosters > Change Player Position option.

You can review the player position changes that have been made during the preseason on the "Help > What's New" menu item under the Player Position Changes link.
