3.06 QB Nick Foles, Phi

Not sure if the Eagles drafted this guy as Vicks eventual replacement or as trade bait down the road. They did use a 3rd rounder on him and my QB scout likes him a lot. He just doesn't like him as much as he likes Luck and RGIII.

I considered drafting him for the PS in Frenzy, but ultimately just didn't see the value in drafting a fringe QB. From what I've read Criner made him look better than he really may be as a QB.

Foles may struggle with throwing to guy like D Jackson who can actually run fast.

Not at all, just the timing. Maybe if you had taught me a few things like you boasted I might could have made a better pick (NOT).

He's a project that I couldn't pass up when you look at the situation in Philly with Vick. Vick is 32 and probably can't take all those big hits more about 3 more years.

As far as Philly wasting a 3rd you could say that about all the QBs selected over the past 10 years and be right a high percentage of the time.

Which begs the question... Why would a team waste a 3rd round pick in a deep SACD draft on a QB of such questionable ilk?

I'm not so sure this is a deep QB draft. Foles is no more questionable than all those other QBs taken after Luck and Griffin.

Who said anything about it being a deep QB draft? I said it is a deep draft... as in deep draft in general, especially at WR and with the addition of IDP's in SACD. A fringe QB in the 3rd round of a deep draft is a wasted pick IMO.

Well his posts have gotten kinda short, terse, and sounding a bit frustrating. I'm starting to worry I may be upsetting the lad and he may be losing focus on why we all play this silly game.

Wow, you think you're getting to me just because YOU can't comprehend a potential good pick. Here is what one source says about Nick Foles:

"3) Nick Foles, Philadelphia (9.66)

This rank and grade may make you shudder, but hear me out...

First, you have to start with the theory that our scouting models (which have had a nice QB-evaluation run lately) thinks Nick Foles is going to be a good-great NFL QB, and possible elite. If you don't take our word for it, Andy Reid making this pick is an excellent endorsement on the skill level/potential that exists.

Secondly, Michael Vick is going to be 32 years old this season and was a quasi-disaster as a passer last season. Vick got the money (big contract) and went back to his old ways as a mediocre-to-horrible passer and with a massive decline in the Fantasy Football coveted rushing TDs (Vick had 1 rushing TD last year versus 9 TDs in 2010 when the money was "on the line"). It is quite possible Vick will erode further in 2012, and be an expensive QB that the Eagles contemplate cutting in 2013. It is also quite possible that Vick will get hurt early on in 2012, and someone will need to play QB for Philly...that QB could be Nick Foles.

That's basically what this source said about Michael Crabtree a few years ago
