Vikings 2.11 QB, Tavaris Jackson, Minnesota

I'm following the Swords lead on 2nd round homer picks. My Vikes reached for Jackson, so so will I. At least I didn't have to trade up to do it.

Apparently, he has all the tools, and serving for a year behind Johnson won't hurt. What the heck.

"What the heck" is right!? At this point in the draft, might as well go for the big risk/big return players. I was wondering if you'd make this pick (though I figured you'd do this at the 2.13 spot).

I figured with Mike right after me, he'd try to get his revenge on my Everett pick on him last year.

... by the way, Everett is looking good for this year, from what I've heard.

Honestly, until you picked, I had no idea which direction I was even heading.

I forgot all about the Everett incident, honest. ;)

Well I know which way I'm headed... so if those in the 2.13 to 3.01 slots could hurry and make their selections, I'd be much obliged!

Nah, we're having a GREAT PACE on picks today!!!

I'm hoping! I don't know how much longer Tony G is going to be around, and I'm in dire need of an heir apparent.

Don't hang your hopes on Everett. He's not a Levy type player (high character, big motor, great work ethic, etc). I don't think the new regime is at all enamored with him, and won't be surprised at all if he's a training camp casualty.

I have him in SACD and don't expect much.

And their other receiving options at tight end are?

It doesn't seem to me like the Bills have such a surplus of offensive talent they can let a guy with potential like Evertt go for nothing.

They seem to be fooling themselves with Robert Royal being all everything at TE. There has been NOTHING positive said or reported by management in regards to Everett. I swear, they're treating him like training camp fodder.

I guess I read an article a week or so ago saying that he was ready & healthy (finally)... and that they had big hopes for him. But I can't remember who "they" were (his parents, maybe!?!).

HOnestly, as a Skins fan, if you're only competition is Royal then you have to be feeling good about yourself. The skins made ZERO effort to retain him, despite the fact that Saunders offence is TE heavy.

Yet the Bills gave him a 4 year $8 million deal :Banghead

That sure seems to be an insult. You talking smack about my Tavaris?

Not at all I just figured he was going to take some time to develop and I was hoping he would slip deeper. I actually heard some pre-draft chatter (on Sirius NFL Radio) that Phil Simms said he had the smoothest release of any of the QB's and lots of talent. The big concern was making the transition to NFL talent playing against him.

He is the perfect DS candidate, but sadly, the way things are, most of the players with real potential are long gone by the 4th round. Looking at who was left, I didn't project anyone with as much potential as Jackson to be available at my 3rd round pick, much less the 4th round. By all accounts, he WILL get a shot to be the starter at some point, and that is worth drafting at this point.
