Cardinals 4.08 TE Adam Bergen, ARI

The guy I was targeting all along with this pick! (Okay, I would have taken Orton, but I didn't expect him to fall to me.) With the departure of Freddie Jones, and with a coach who isn't afraid to shuffle new blood into the lineup to see what they can do, I like Bergen's situation and potential.

From NFL.com:

Considered to be one of the premier tight ends in college football at any level, Bergen is a remarkable physical specimen with the size, strength, speed and pass-catching ability that professional teams covet.

Bergen was a three-sport athlete who lettered in football, basketball and baseball at Seaford High School. He was a member of the Long Island Championship football team and squad MVP as a junior. He also earned all-conference and all-county honors as a basketball player.

Bergen played in every game as a true freshman at Lehigh, making two catches for 16 yards. He started five contests in 2002, snatching 23 passes for 246 yards (10.7 avg.) and three touchdowns. Bergen earned Sports Network and Associated Press Division I-AA All- America honors as a junior in 2003. He became the sixth player in school history to catch 70 passes in a season, gaining 840 yards (12.0 avg.) and six touchdowns.

Bergen was again chosen first-team All-American as a senior. He had twice as many receptions as the team's second and third-leading receiver combined, hauling in 54 passes for 634 yards (11.7 avg.) and eight scores in 2004. In 35 games with the Mountain Hawks, he caught 149 passes for 1,736 yards (11.7 avg.) and 17 touchdowns. His 149 catches rank eighth on the school's career-record list while his 17 scoring grabs rank seventh.

Was actually hoping the Eagles might have grabbed him late in the draft since Lehigh is not too far from Philly (in fact it may be the Birds training camp home these days). Could be a good situation for him in AZ though.
