First off, thanks to Freedom for snapping up my "safe pick". I want to feel good about my first round pick and get some instant gratification, but I have nags against all of the remaning touted players including the guy I'm drafting.
I've written this post 3 times now featuring Lacy, Austin and Patterson as my selection. There is something I really don't like about each one. Austin is a safer pick, but he's soooo tiny and I already have 3 Rams in the oven (Bradford, Pead, Givens). I know I can look to Welker as an example for assurance, but I really feel like I'm reading Dexer McCluster's bio all over again. Just can't do it.
Lacy? The fused toes thing really bothers me. Don't get me wrong, Bradshaw was wonderful for the Giants with all his foot issue, but that was AFTER taking a beating at the NFL level for many years. Lacy has yet to get started. Love the scoring opportunities with the Packer's machine, but I feel a short career.
So, we'll take a shot with Patterson and hope that over the next 2-3 years he will learn to run routes and around that same time he'll land with a team with a QB.
Welcome aboard big man! Now get to work!
