INJURED RESERVE RULE (2017 Implemented)
Players must meet any of the official NFL IR standards to be placed in IR status. The minimum term on IR status will be 4 weeks, then player must be IR eligible and it will extend an additional 2 weeks, and will continue to need to be eligible every 2 weeks or player must be activated. A player may be activated at the end of any IR period he has started. If a non-eligible player is not activated within 1 week of no longer meeting IR eligible status and a 4 or 2 week period has expired, the player will be considered cut and exposed to waivers and standard cap penalties. For shorthand this is a 4x2x2 type system.

Retroactive IR allows teams to retroactively place a player on IR 1 or 2 weeks prior IF:

• the Player was DOUBTFUL or OUT on final injury report(s) & INACTIVE for the week(s) by their NFL team in the preceding week(s)
  and
• the Player was not started by their Frenzy team in the preceding week(s)
  and
• The team placing a player on retroactive IR must provide the necessary link(s) from MFL linked article(s) and/or Injury Reports at the time the player is placed on retroactive IR. Failure to submit proof of eligibility in the post where the player is retroactively placed on IR will void the move and the player will not be eligible for retroactive IR until the following week at the earliest.

An example of how this system would work:

SCENARIO 1 - Player A has an injury and is listed OUT in the final injury report and is INACTIVE week 4 for his NFL team. Week 5 this player is again listed as doubtful, and ends up INACTIVE again. Week 6 player is again doubtful on the NFL injury report.... Team A has the option to place Player A on IR with their 4 week minimum IR stay backdated to week 4 and extending to week 8 before the 2 week renewals come in. This shortens the remaining IR term to 2 weeks for this player, though the player will have missed at least 4 weeks playing time for their Frenzy team.

SCENARIO 2 - Player A has an injury and is listed OUT in the final injury report INACTIVE week 7 for his NFL team. Week 8 this player is again listed as OUT on the NFL injury report.... Team A has the option to place Player A on IR with their 4 week minimum IR stay backdated to week 7 and extending to week 11 before the 2 week renewals come in. This shortens the remaining IR term to 3 weeks for this player, though the player will have missed at least 4 weeks playing time for their Frenzy team.

PASSED for 2020: Covid-IR (CovIR) with the criteria below:
Any player listed as Reserve-Covid is eligible up until the point they're taken off the list by their NFL team

An unlimited number of players will be allowed on this list, if your team loses a player to the NFL's Reserve-Covid list they automatically move to Frenzy/SACD's Covid-IR.

Once on Covid-IR the entire players contract doesn't count against the cap until the moment they're taken off the Covid-IR list

• 1 contract year is forgiven for players placed on Covid-IR
• UFA's picked up as 1 year replacements at or below the Covid-IR players salary will be automatically cut without penalty the moment the NFL team removes the player off the NFL's Reserve-Covid list. Basically, pickup any UFA at or below the Covid players salary for a 1 year deal and you will not be penalized for the replacements cut when the Covid player is removed off the list by their NFL team
• Teams will not receive cap hit relief on replacement UFA's if they either assign a replacement for multiple years OR bid above the Covid players salary.
• NOTE - for players in Active Bidding, upon acquisition you must designate a player as a Covid-replacement for X player for the Covid IR rules to apply. If the player is signed to a 1 year contract at a salary at or below the Covid-IR player, that would mean no cap hit and immediate release when the Covid-IR player returns. If you assign a UFA multiple years or a contract above the Covid-IR player's contract, they would NOT be eligible for any salary cap relief, and teams could cut any other player as normal within 24 hours (at the normal cap hit penalty) to make room for the returning player.

If he was cut and picked back up by the same team he has to back on IR as far as I understand it. Cutting a player isn't a loophole to brining them back to the active roster during the 4 week mandatory period.

Goegert is still on NFL IR - rules only speak about cutting if they are eligible to return, no longer IR eligible, and we do not move them back. If they still qualify, then by default, they should just roll automatically...

But if you need confirmation, please let him roll until he returns from NFL IR, and I need to actually make a decision.

Same with Sutton, who is out for the year - Chickens will roll them out the rest of season on IR...

Analysis: Ertz returned to practice this week but has yet to be activated off IR. It sounds like he won't be returning for the Eagles' Week 11 matchup against the Browns, which gives Dallas Goedert another chance at high-end TE1 production.

A note on IR administration and EACH Team Owner's Responsibilities

Each Team Owner is responsible to manage their IR eligibility, which includes posting extensions. To avoid issues, unless a player is clearly OUT FOR THE SEASON, and marked as such here in the IR thread, you MUST post each time when an extension is necessary that you wish to extend for 2 weeks and the source of current injury status on that date. Players will NOT be auto extended. If a team owner fails to mark a player as extended, THEY WILL BE CUT at the moment their game for that week starts. If this happens, the player will be sent to Waivers and will become a UFA if unclaimed. Normal, cut penalties will apply.

I'm writing this to avoid any confusion and making the process crystal clear. AGAIN, it is YOUR responsibility to monitor your players eligibility, and post extensions accordingly before the player's game starts the week their original 4 week eligibility, or 2 week extension(s) expire. Failure to extend your players in this thread will lead to the player being released at their gametime. No players will be automatically extended, even if they show injured. It's too much work for me to have to babysit eligibility each week and automatically extending creates ambiguities.

It is on YOU to extend or activate before gametime once a player's time is up on IR.

Failure to do so before gametime WILL result in players being released as per the rules.
