Due to the lateness in the month, and the fact that not everyone has checked in yet, we are pushing back the schedule of events. The new schedule is:
Now until 4/15: Voice your opinions on the "2003 Rule Change Proposal" thread. At that point, I will formalize the proposals and submit them for a vote. By 4/24: Submit your RFAs. I belive we do not want to post these in public for strategic reasons, so you can submit these to me, anytime between 4/1 and 4/24 at briangiel@hotmail.com (my RFAs are already set). I will post the RFAs on the web site on 4/24. 5/1 through 5/31: RFA bidding. This is shorter than last year, but we had extra time last year so this shouldn't be an issue. Remember, there is a 72 hour waiting period for RFA matches at the end of the month, so the last time to place bids will actually be 11:59 pm, 5/28. 6/1-We will begin the rookie draft. 72 hours after the Rookie draft is completed, the UFA period will open, and be open until 8/15, when in season free agency begins. If anything is unclear, please let me know. |

all sounds good to me, although I'll have to proxy vote and submit my RFA's early.
Last year we posted our RFA's here on the board. I don't think there should be an issue with doing it that way again this year.

I'm okay with the new schedule... I'll be on a backpacking camp the 2nd week in June and then in CA the third (but with internet access that week)... I'm sure I'll be able to participate fully.
As for posting RFAs online... I have no problem with it... it's not like I have any verifiable studs this year who are elligible for the RFA... but I'll go along with whatever the league decides. |

Moving the discussion into this thread....
So has the Soft Cap deadline been moved back as well? I hadn't noticed before that it wasn't included in the above schedule, but I don't think I'm the only one who assumed it would be moved back like everything else. |

So what is the new soft cap deadline? April 24 sounds fair since that is when RFA's will be due.

Due to the fact that Mike pointed out we posted our RFAs on the board last year, we will be doing it on the board again this year. I've started a thread in the RFA section for posting your RFAs. Please do so by 11:59pm on 4/24.
I'm not sure on moving the soft cap deadline back. Edited to say, Jim, I got your email, but if you would post your RFAs in the RFA thread, that would be great! Last edited by Nittany Dodgers; April 3rd, 2003 at 04:43 PM. |

I personally see no reason to move the soft deadline back.
The RFA period is unaffected by those cuts. Teams had all off-season since the Superbowl to make cuts, therefore I say we're in the hard cap period. (My 2 cents at least). And just in case your wondering, I've debated cutting a big ticket player and could gain by pushing the soft period back, I just don't think anything we've done thus far necessitates it... BTW, I really think we need to clarify some of the rule issues that have been brought up BEFORE starting the RFA period... I'd love commentary soon, since after next week I'll personally be gone the rest of the month.

I tend to disagree with you Mike. From a strategic standpoint I wanted to wait to make my cuts. With all the other date changes that seem to be taking place it does not seem unreasonable to move the soft cap period as well.
In terms of the cap it is not a huge difference but every dollar counts. |

To be honest, I was waiting, too... I've been "taking a break" from fantasy football, and sort of had it in my mind that when the RFA designation period ended, that's when I had to cut my "dead weight."
I'll be able to live with the deadline "as is"... but if it were put to a vote, I'd side with Matt. |

Nothing has stopped anyone from making cuts prior to 3/31. I stand by my earlier comments that that deadline has passed. I say this with all honesty as I myself could gain by pushing the deadline back.
Whats to gain by waiting till the absolute drop dead date to cut a guy anyhow? Those cuts should have been mae a long time ago IMO. Maybe you can sway Brian and Jake to agree with you, but my vote on the committee is a hardy NO. Man, aside from the Undead, the East division is a bunch of crybabies! Shit, the way I'm been bitching and moaning since the Superbowl I probably belong on the cry-baby list with the Freedom and Opihi !

You gotta love a country where everyone has a right to say what they think...
... and be called a crybaby to boot! lol Can't we just start whooping up on each other now? Isn't there some "preseason/predraft/preanything contest" where we can take Mike out to the woodshed??? Bring it on!!! ;) |

... I LOVE the EAST division, not only do we have the best teams top to bottom (IMO at least), but we also have some of the best rivalries! You just keep quite over there Opihi, as I recall, I believe my Predators are 2-0 in the Frenzy against you...

Am I missing something or are the league champions the past two seasons from the West and Central Divisions? Guess that make the teams the in East the best looking bunch of Bride's Maids until one of them wins something
Are you ready for some football? |
