In reading through the RFA rules yesterday, I found this nugget that I bet some people didn't know:

"Once the RFA Free Agent bidding opens on April 1, a team CANNOT withdraw it's tender without being assessed the 20% cap penalty."

What this means is that you can essentially "cut" your RFA - you withdraw the tender and take a 20% penalty (the standard cut penalty). I'm not sure if that's ever been done, but I wanted to point out that it's an option if you need to clear cap space during the RFA period.

Pretty sure that has been done. That line is basically about making the tender's guaranteed.

Default Owens

Quotes from today's press conference with Terrell Owens:

"I couldn't be more excited about getting here and being apart of this franchise - I'd be a star among stars." (Addressing his pending signing with the Avengers)
“Like I always said, if I'm one of the top players in the game, pay me like I'm one of the top players in the game - the Avengers are willing to make that commitment.”
"My main focus is to win a championship, as it has always been."
"I'm not really interested in looking back to the past. I've made some mistakes. I know that. But it starts today. You can't ever move forward if you keep bringing up the past."

Mike, don't get mad if I do another 47th hour bid on Johnson come Friday afternoon! If Joel uses his full 72 hours on Parker, I may not have a choice. I'm not letting the #3 and #4 (IMO) RBs slip through my grasp by letting one go just because I'm on one of them (like I did with LT and Westbrook).

I gots to get me a stud RB!!!

I hope all these delays on decisions to match/decline have some solid strategic purpose, because its really crampin my bidding style.

BTW - 1800 for McGahee? Y'all must be crazy. The guy is a workhorse. He overcomes an amputated leg at the end of his college career - his motor never stops, he always gives 110%, he's hungry for a championship, insert additional cliche here. He plays for Brian Billi... He's got a good quarterba... He's got good wide recei... hmmmmm, maybe 1800 is right.

Disclaimer - if this is fishing, I apologize, I just couldn't stand the stagnation on our message board any longer.

McGahee is a complete TOOL

I won't bid on him based on principle

BTW, go back to I was just having a bad day... my apologies

And finally, the starting Half Back for Urza's Ragers Laaaaaaaarry Joooooooohnson. You know you love the sound of it. And not to mention poor little Kolby Smith who would get lonesome without big brother Larry.

Note to teams who need a RB (and I know you're out there): you gonna let McGahee slip by? He's a prime RB that can actually be peeled away from his current team (and not at the $3000 price tag that others carry). Once he goes, I hope you're happy with an over-priced Rudi Johnson or a loser Thomas Jones (watch the Jets take McFadden and render him moot), because that's all that will remain, when you count in that Larry Johnson and Jamal Lewis are going to be matched.

I'm sitting here keeping RBs alive and I don't even really NEED one, I just want one. I'm surprised that teams with the need are sitting on the sidelines.

I don't need another RB but you got your wish as I just bumped McGahee. Hopefully he falls to me and if everyone thinks like you do about Rudi, I'll have some nice bargaining power with RBs come rookie draft and UFA

Nicely done. You were the last team I expected to bid!

I just bumped LJ. So now the RB dominos can start falling once Joel makes his Parker decision. C'mon Joel, there's no strategic reason to wait anymore, let's gitrdone!

No prob. I highly doubt I'll end up with Parker and Johnson. And if I do, I've got that contingency covered, too.

I was just waiting for you to bid on Johnson. So I wasn't neccessarily the one holding things up.

On a side note - 72 hours match decline is a long time.

Default McGahee/Johnson

Ragers - I'm not going to make this easy on you. You can decide now or in a couple of days about Johnson, but I'm not moving on McGahee until you make that decision.

I don't think landing or not landing McGahee will have anything to do with the decision to match or decline LJ.

There are other options out there at the skill positions.

FYI, stealing Burt's idea from SACD, I changed all the icons on closed RFAs to thumbs up or thumbs down, based on match or decline. I think it makes the whole forum easier to read. It should be easier to see active RFAs now, as they are the only ones with NFL team icons next to them.

I like Burt's system. I also think we should list the points in the RFA tracking thread for each decline like SACD is now doing.
