Mercy please... that's right I said it... MERCY Pat.. PLEASE! LOL
200pts and counting...
!Pat's team exemplifies my point that being deep is not necessarily a good thing, especially when you don't have elite talent at the top. Lineups are much more difficult to pick, and you have no real studs to rely upon. Then there are the Liquid Swords, a team with next to no depth, but elite players throughout the lineup. There are few lineup decisions, just plug in your stud starters week in and week out and hope to avoid injuries. If he stay's injury free he's going to be damn hard to beat. Well done Pat, WELL DONE! ![]() NOTE to Bobby & Burt: The team I inherited was not nearly as good as what you have insisted since I took over. Look at the players I started with, whether I cut them, traded them, or still have them, none of them are elite in 2012. You can't win consistently without elite talent. The team I inherited was much more a team in need of an overhaul than a team ready to win a championship, and my 4-5 record, and lack of elite stud players at all of the skill positions save maybe Brady clearly reflects that. Is it over? No, not yet, I'll fight till the bitter end and hope to sneak in as a wild card spot and get hot, that's all it takes, get hot and peak at the right time, but as things stand right now, it's going to be a tall order to make my squad champions in 2012, which is one reason why I've tried to position it to have much more flexibility in 2013 than what I inherited.

Until today I had the distinction of having the highest score and lowest score. I still have the lowest score.

BTW, MFL's power ranking formula gives way too much credence to bench points. They're meaningless in reality. Potential points are overrated as well. They're often inflated by fringe players few would start having blow up weeks nobody could predict. In what I feel should be the most important areas to rate a team, my squads medocrity comes to the fore. 6th in Starting points, 5th in All-Play record (and sub .500 at that), and haven't exceeded 126 points over the first 8 weeks (dead last in the league there), yet the Power Rankings had my squad as #3 overall? Not a chance. Statistically, I should be ranked no higher than 6 and more likely somewhere between 7 and 9, not the top 3.

Thanks. The lack of depth definitely makes lineup decisions easier.

Maybe so but you miss out on the good feeling you get on those rare occasions you guess right. This week I made a last hour decision to play M. Leshoure over C.J. Spiller and gave myself a chance for a win.

I had one of those this week. I started Palmer over Roethlisberger at the last minute.

Oh cool! I didn't know thats how it worked! When I was last in the Frenzy we only had 4 playoff teams. Hell I'm in great shape right now, just have to keep my deep bench going

Total points and All Play are included in Power Rankings...Bench points a part of the formula, yes, but only a part of it. Here is the formula used by MFL to calculate the Power Rankings, which I posted in the thread where we discussed using the Power Rankings to determine 6th seed:
points_per_week_per_starter = A points_per_week_per_nonstarter = B all_play_wins_per_week = C actual_wins = D division_wins = E Power Rank = A+B+C+D+E So as you see, there are 5 categories that go into power rankings, and we all, at the time, thought this was best indicator of quality of team. Regardless of what Preds would have you believe about his team...he is not currently ranked 2nd based solely on his Bench Points

I rest my case. Bench points are weighed much too heavily in the Power Rankings, especially in the formula you just presented.

So how does that compare to all the other teams? Besides, why are bench points not important? If you lose a stud, you have someone of quality to plug in replacement..Patrick loses a stud, not so much. That isn't important in ranking a team overall in Power? Blee

I'm not saying depth isn't a factor, but it's vastly over-weighted in the power rankings. Hell it's apparently in my favor with the 6th playoff seed and gives me another avenue to the playoffs, but I still think it's flawed.
All-Play, Points For, and to a lessor degree Potential Points For are vastly more important factors to consider IMO. Division wins is also a useless stat when comparing against teams outside the division.

What does the Efficiency % measure?

Starter Points versus Potential Points.
Not surprisingly, teams with a weak bench generally have a high Efficiency %, whereas teams with deeper benches have a lower Efficiency % since picking who to start is nearly as clearly defined.

(Notice I haven't chimed in? Not expecting to be anywhere CLOSE to sniffing the playoffs at this point in the season... but you never know!?!)

Actually Mike you should be ranked ahead of me in the power rankings. You have twice the number of skilled position players in the top 10 avg points. You have the #5 QB, #6 and 9 RB and #6 WR.
Dogs have only QB and TE in the top 10. You trying to portray your team as being weak doesn't cut it. |
