Shit, you just opened Pandora's box Frank. I probably would have noticed this anyhow when I updated the roster app this week, but your reply above made me look closer.

2 Teams have already been assessed the 500cb penalty for being under the 5 man TE/K/D limit for more than 24 hours.

By cutting Franks 1st, and acquiring a defense 2 days later (more than 24 hours), you've effectively violated the rule, albeit in a stupid unintentional manner. You should have done it the other way around, aquiring a replacement 1st then cutting the player.

This sucks, I honestly hate leveling these penalties since I'm viewed as the bad guy, but that is the rules, and they are there specifically to keep teams from overusing the 2 extra roster spots we added for those positions. Particualrly accounting for the fact that we added 500cb's for these positions specifcially, thus if you only carry 4 you're potentally using the cb's unfairly.

I feel no choice but to assess the 500 cb penalty, but I think we need to address this in the off-season. Either eliminate the roster spots, or the requirement to carry 5, or maybe have a passive penalty where teams carrying under the limit would temporarily lose 250cb's per player under, thus assuring that those 500cb's are generally dedicated for the extra positions if under the limit. The minute they get back to the limit they'd get their cb's back. Or something like that, maybe assess a small penalty like 25cb's per day under or something.

I myself feel the 500 cb penalty is stiff, but do not feel it should be repealed this year, but it should certainly be revised next year.

Anyhow, the long and short of this is that by going under the 5 player TE/K/D limit for more than 24 hours you've violated the rules and in line with them I have to assess the 500cb penalty.

Since I'm also into reforming the rules, it seems, I'd be in favor of the temporary "hold" on 250cbs x (# of players under the 5 limit)... that makes more sense... or heck, just get rid of that whole limit thing.

Ah, in that I definately agree and am open for ideas on how best to balance this out for next season.

IMO the penalty was too harsh this season, but it was our first season with the expanded rosters so we live and learn and get ready to improve things next year.

I think elminating the restriction will lead to teams stacking up further at RB and WR which is not the reason why we added the 2 extra roster slots, thats why I think the temporary penalty has merit, although I might suggest imposing some kind of permanent daily penalty like 5 or 10 cb's for each day in violation or something along those lines.

Anybody else care to float some ideas?

My best suggestion would be to lessen the CB hit by a bit and also allow the time period until the closing of FA which is Friday or Saturday I believe.

That was what my assumption was. OH well. Next time i"ll find a replacement then cut.

OKay so I won't be penalized if I don't sumbit a roster cut if need be?

I just want to make sure because I'ev had two weeks worth of transactions before this penalty and I don't know the timing of the penalty w/ the relase of Franks and the aqcuisition of the Cards DEF.

As I've mentioned many times, the app is downloadable so that everybody can keep up their own teams and keep things straight.

I've been pretty good this year with updating the app about every 7-10 days. The app that is currently on the site is only 8 days onld, so it shouldn't be too hard to track your moves and penalties since then.

I will update the app when I get some time, hopefully tommorrow, but today is Halloween and I have to be a good dad
and take my kids out ;).

As for activating Porter, that's entirely up to you, if you have the roster space, contract years, and cap space to accomodate him then go for it, as long as all of the above are met you can activate him whenever you feel.

How about making each team have 5 PK/TE/Def by the end of the week. So say I cut a PK at the beggining of the week, just as long as I sign one before the games start for that week instead of requiring them to always carry the 5. Just a suggestion for next year.

I like that suggestion... again for next year... assess the 500 cbs penalty if midnight Saturday rolls around and there aren't 5 TE/K/Ds on your roster...
