Future Rules changes to consider in 2010/2011...
1. Should suspended NFL players be eligible for IR status?

2. Should we allow contract renegotiation for traded players only, similar to SAC'd rule? (this one was discussed in 2008, but never brought up for official vote)

I love how SACD and Frenzy require different types of planning/ownership.

3. Should a player be IR eligible only between the publication of the official NFL injury report (usually Wednesday) and the end of that week's NFL slate of games... or ANYTIME in the course of a season that the aforementioned player was listed as "doubtful/questionable/out"?
4. What about players going into a bye week? What injury report do we use in that case (the prior week's report?)? |

You may want to consider that NFL teams are not required to disclose game status until two days before the game. Wednesday and Thursday reports typically include only practice status, so the earliest you can have the "questionable/doubtful/out" designation is Friday for Sunday games.

Putting this in here from http://www.predsff.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16907
Consider new rule to allow team who does well, but just has some bad luck, to allow the strongest teams to make playoffs. This is a rule in a league that will also give points to a team who does better than at least half the other teams that week....so a team who scores the 2nd most points that week, but plays team who scores most points, can still get credit for a good week: 10. League Schedule A schedule will be created each season by the league software package. We will play 14 games over 13 weeks in a 3 division format of 4 teams each. Each team will play the other teams within their division teams twice (6 games), and the teams in the other division once (8 games) with the non-division games being played as double header on a week that is not impacted by byes, specifically weeks 1, 2, 3, and 11, 12, or 13. When possible, division games will be scheduled on weeks where there are no byes. For 2007, that will be weeks 1, 2, 3, 11, 12, and 13. The Double Header week for 2007 will be week 3. In addition to the head to head (h2h) schedule above, teams will face a weekly points win/loss (w/l) schedule during the regular season (this does NOT apply during the playoffs). Teams will be awarded wins or losses during the regular season based upon their final starting points on any given week. The top 6 scoring teams each week of the regular season will be awarded a win, while the bottom 6 scoring teams will be given a loss. This is in addition to the results of every teams h2h matchup each week. Thus, on any given week during the regular season, a team could go 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2, or in the case of the one double header week, teams could go 3-0, 2-1, 1-2, or 0-3.

Eliminate eBay style bidding - this was done in SAC'd a few years back..
Using In Season FA period as example - period ends with 14th game of season...so putting a new player up for bid would end at midnight, but if players were already started, the bidding would continue as normal, until the player is won...so clock continues to run as it would if period were still in effect.

Another idea... revisiting the top pick for the rookie draft scenario. Finding a way to help "encourage" teams to remain active & competitive down the stretch, even when they're out of playoff contention.

In a couple of my leagues, we hold a concurrent Toilet Bowl held with the bottom teams to determine draft order....

One thing I see though is offseason free agency would likely need to apply to toilet bowl teams as well. |

I need to check again...but I believe first rounds, the winners advance, then the loser of Toilet Bowl gets pick 1...or maybe vice versa...losers in 1st rounds advance, while Winner of Toilet bowl gets pick 1...I can verify though..
Not sure what you mean by off season FA would apply?

Would also like to bring up allowing one Franchise player, similar to the rules in SAC'd

Think people are going to be up for talking about these issues in the NFL postseason... or should we table the discussions for when we get back together in early spring?

We should do it now before the off-season periods begin so teams can properly plan.

these leagues never sleep.....You can send out league wide email on MFL also, when signed in as commish....
I think we need to decide what to do about Jake...I got confirmation from him that he would like to stay in league, but he also said he was going to be more active. As we all know, and have seen, an inactive owner can sway the balance of the league to a degree...would hate to lose a charter member, but how long can we go on letting his team get worse and worse?

If people will check in, I'm in favor of deciding on the rules changes sooner than later.
As for Jake... this has really been a bad year for his team. We can't have another year like it. |

I would not mind seeing more of the sac'd rules (franchise player, renegs, etc) implemented in the Frenzy.

I'm always checking in. I'll also get a final update to the roster app sometime soon. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the SAC'D rules brought over as well.
I say we enjoy the New Year and start discussions for next season shortly after. |
