Perhaps we need an open discussion about last-minute bidding. I don't want to offend anyone, yet I am still stunned every time someone expresses their surprise / dismay / frustration at being outbid late. Believe me, it's not personal, at least not when I do it.
This is my first contract auction league. I realized I am clueless, so I emailed several owners in similar leagues for strategy tips. Pretty much they all said the same things - know the rosters by heart and watch the wire very closely. When it comes to the wire, some of the oldest tricks in the book seem to revolve around using the bidding timer most efficiently for your own gain. I have already observed some of the uses: to buy yourself time, to raise prices, to delay signings by opponents, etc, etc. I am sure there are more. My point is that there are legitimate reasons to wait 20+ hours. (That said, I am still scratching my head about John's latest flurry, but I guess I will keep scratching....) I also personally vow to provide an explanation in a PM to anybody who asks every time I bid on a player late. Never, not once, will my explanation be "Just for fun" or "I just felt like it". |

it's frustrating when it happens to you, but it is part of the game, and I don't see any reason to change the rule..

I did it so you would counter on DAlexander _ I soured on him AFTER I was high bidder and needed a counter...that and "just for fun".

You're completely in the rules... we're just yanking your chain BECAUSE YOU'RE SO DANG GOOD AT IT!!! Seriously... delaying bidding to get through a weekend (to see how a player performs)... or playing it off of other bids that are out there, are all legal & completely acceptable ways of playing in this league. Seriously... don't change a thing. It's just become fun to rag on the new guy.
