It’s TUESDAY. My day to shine or crumble. Let’s see how we did this week boys and girls…I feel like…like…singing…. (STOP it right there). I’ve had too much time off.
We’ll start this week with Bay Area BI (3-4) going against the Indiana Undead (4-3). First of all, I owe the Insects an apology. In my preview, I used that name "Bay Area BA" what the heck is that. Let’s Try BI (as in Bloodsucking Insects). Sheesh…good way to start the return trip. Well, with that past me, let’s continue. It appears that was just an omen for the week. Warner was brought back to earth after a great start to the year. Alexander shows why he’s the stud he is with 42.3 points. Once again, he is about the only Seattle FF player this year worth anything week-in and week-out. Clinton Portis was robbed of a long TD due to a penalty, which hurt. Stokely was surprisingly quiet for what should have been a bigger game for him. Johnson is praying Rattay gets back because 1 pass for 9 yards won’t hack it. Undead went off with Plummer somehow throwing for almost 500 yards. Holmes was a nice addition (49 points). Jones would have been icing on the cake if he didn’t go out hurt almost immediately. Harrison had a big game as well. Doug Brien decided to outscore Chad Johnson (where the Pink). Prediction: Not exactly an easy pick since I haven’t paid much attention to any football lately (no web sites, no write ups, no nothing)…so bear with me. I still am taking Undead by a hair. ** Actual: Insects 105 - Undead 169.55 ** Side note. Did anyone check out Undead’s potential points??? 193.05!! wow! Next up is Urza’s Ragers (4-3) versus Parkwood Predators (6-1):. Preds were a little nervous having Brooks off. McCown didn’t give him anything to ease his nerves. Barlow also finally got a TD, but was really low on yards. Tomlinson was also below average in yards, but also got the TD. Andre Johnson, Walker and Ward were solid, but nothing spectacular. In fact, Hines is loving winning but his numbers have dropped since Roethlisberger is starter. Wiggins and Baltimore were below average as well. Ragers are hoping for repeat performance by Brees (FIVE TD’s from someone not named Manning or Culpepper). Sammy Morris did his job and pulled in double digit score (barely), which is more the Freddy did (is he still fragile?). Gardner’s 3 catches for two TD’s was a blessing. Akers pulled in the victory . Prediction: Preds are going to want to get going in the right direction again and come up with the win ** Actual: Ragers 99.10 – Preds 97.2 Soap Box DC (1-6) against the now formidable Philly Freedom (3-4): Derby Cars were thankful for my return, it appears as the curse against Freedom continued. Course it doesn’t hurt to have Manning throw for nearly 500 yards and 5 TDs!!! Insane! However, he deserved worse for the RB situation…Westbrook was out with injury and Hoover had a let down after a good week last week. Keyshawn and Morton made up for it with big days. Crumpler got into the game as well. We didn’t even HAVE a kicker for them. Freedom on the other hand followed what I estimated. Leftwich IS his saving grace, but didn’t save him this week. Martin gave a great showing (24.05) on MNF, but they were too far down. Taylor and Smith (Jimmy) both were in double digits as well. But Gabriel and Lloyd were a disappointment. Prediction: Sorry Freedom, kiss of death, I’m picking you this week (I think Leftwich may be your saving grace this year). Folks, he reaches .500!!! ** Actual: Derby Cars 125 to Freedom 106.30 Liquid Swords (4-3) facing off against Royal HO (5-2). Like Freedom, Opihi are looking forward to my next break, so I won’t pick them anymore. Trent Green once again lit it up, bringing in 36.6 points. Droughns put up a solid 17.95 points as well, but a little lower than expectations. Moore, on the other hand was thankful for the TD because his yards stunk. Splitting time with Bennett also kills his value. Givens rocked as the only Patriot worth starting this week with 26.1 points. Derrick Mason was only missing the TD since he had good yards (and appeared to be Volek’s only target). Shockey & Robinson also had good numbers, but like Mason missed out on TDs. Elam and Seattle were below par. Swords on the other hand Culpepper way below his season average (but still scored 21.5). Ahman strutted his stuff once more to 34.3 points. Kevin Jones pulled in 15.5 points to keep the RB’s moving. Patten and Kennison watched their teammates have big games (in NFL as well as Frenzy). Rod Smith had a career game with 208 yards (80 yards TD to boot) racking up 32.2 points. Randy McMichael showed why he’s a must start with 18.20 points. Somewhere the NE DT is looking to see where they lost themselves because they have fallen from high to getting a whopping zero (I know, I have them in two leagues). Prediction: I actually see this as the game of the week. Either team can take this, but I’m going with Opihi to pull out a victory. ** Actual: Swords 147.50 –Opihi 126.75 – it was also a great game and very close until MNF. Now Brain Dead SC (3-4) tackle the Wonder Mutts (5-2): Squirrel Chasers are wondering what is up with Hasselbeck. Even with a ‘simplified’ offense, he is not being the stud he should be. Wells days are numbered with return of Dominic Davis. Burress, however, is loving Roethlisber and rocking lately. Housha;lkasy87dglakjbahsdf (dang it, stop using him) is coming on. Moss killed you with starting, but not playing even when he was on the field. Witten is turning into a solid TE. Jacksonville and Anderson never showed. Somewhere Vinny thought he was 20 again (rushing for a TD?) He put up 31.35 points. Chris Brown seems pretty healed, but has a bye week this week to make sure. He got 33 points as well. Corey Dillon was a late scratch – which hurt the Mutts with Dominic Davis (17.5) on the bench. Justin McCareins showed up for the first time with a great TD and TO found 100 yards again and the end zone. Robinson has to be careful to hold on to the ball or he’ll be benched soon (so much talent, so little concentration). Antonio Gates amassed 20.8 points, also putting him in the elite category. Prediction: Mutts will be too much to let Squirrel Chasers get to .500 ** Actual: Chasers 79.5 – Mutts 146.35 (I wasn’t even close on this one) Finally, Nittany Dodgers (2-5) clash with Jersey TW (2-5): Waste were glad McNabb had as good as numbers as he did, because in NFL he wasn’t that productive. Eddie George pulled in some solid numbers (but I don’t know how long he can do this). Edge had some solid yards, but no TDs. Wayne was stunning and is a solid WR option every year. McCardell appears to be another good option as Brees went bananas. I have no idea why there was no DT, but oh well. Dodgers celebrated MNF with the return of the Pennington they were hoping for with 3 TDs (actually to WR this time…no, really). Barber is crushing everyone this year (all those prognosticators are eating their words – this one included – in thinking his numbers would decline this year) going for nearly 30 AGAIN. Staley rolled for another 18.8 (where’s the TDs??). And what the heck happened to ATL? Peerless Price (not to be outdone by Rod Gardner goes for two catches, 59 yards and TWO TDs: nice average). Gonzalez knew there were some big numbers put up by TE’s so he showed why he is Tony G with 28.5 points. Pittsburgh shocked NE with 21 points as well. Prediction: Dodgers just don’t have the fire power to pull this one off (unless there are more upsets in the NFL:bitch ). Heck, I’ve been wrong before, but I’m going with Toxic Waste to win. ** Actual: Dodgers 179.60 – Waste 108.15 So, with me obviously not improving on my predictions even after a break, it looks like I need some help (hmmm…what’s this ‘little purple pill’:Alcoholic :smoke ). All is fair in love, war and FF. So, until next week, comb the waiver wire and continue your threats and beggings for me not to choose you to win!;) :rant |
