Post BREAKING FRENZY NEWS: Tomlinson signs offer with BDSC... will Predators match?

Just minutes ago, the MVP of the Frenzy Bowl just a few short months ago, signed a contract with the Squirrel organization. Tomlinson surprisingly accepted a slightly smaller contract than anticipated by many (at least when compared to contracts recently signed by his peers), presumably because of his desires to return to the west coast.

As much as Tomlinson may want to be closer to home, it isn't up to him. The defending Champion Predators have 72 hours to match the Squirrels offer and retain Tomlinson's right for another year. Will they match?

Rumblings around the league, and the organization, indicate that there is a prevailing feeling that RB salaries have gotten out of hand, largely driven upward by a renegade Insects organization who offered simultaneous excessive contracts to arguably the top 4 RB’s on the market and had 3 sign their offers. The Insects are now trying to make the best out of what could be a disastrous situation.

Should the Predators elect to pass on Tomlinson, they would receive compensation in the way of a 1st round pick.

Outside factors appear to be weighing heavily on GM Mike SantaLucia’s mind, as inside sources tell us that Mr. SantaLucia is deeply concerned with the quality of players in front of LT2 out in San Diego. The lack of a WR threat and a semi-decent line is also a big concern. Word is the organization is concerned that Tomlinson may not have a top 5 season in him this year, something his large contract offer would necessitate to make the money well spent. The Predators are deep at RB with Kevan Barlow, Marcel Shipp, Michael Bennett, and Onterrio Smith already under contract, so the potential to let Tomlinson walk while the address other areas such as QB and WR is very real. The team is reportedly very interested in Freedom QB Donovan McNabb, and if they obtain his services it could play a large factor in their decision on LaDainian.

If I was a betting man, I’d lay my money on black, as this one is a 50-50 call that is too difficult to predict.

In other news, QB Tom Brady has angered the Predators organization by accepting another contract offer from the Toxic Waste, and it appears the team is not ready to pay him top 5 QB numbers for his services.
