Maybe you didn't just add 50 cyber bucks to your teams' cap penalty...
ESPN's John Clayton reports free-agent WR Cris Carter told him he's on the verge of retiring, but plans to give NFL teams one last chance this coming weekend to sign him. If he can't reach a deal by Monday, he's ready to retire. Carter said he still wanted to play and that he was still receiving calls from teams, but none have yet given him an offer he was willing to accept. Carter has a deal in place with HBO, but the cable network is giving him the ability to negotiate with NFL teams.

Now Jim, do you think the threat of retirement is really gonna push anybody towards tendering a contract offer to Carter? I doubt it. I think the Undead will be 50cb's shorter come Monday.
