Terrell Suggs to lead the way on the Pitbulls D

Suggs expected to wreak havoc on opposing QB’s

On the defensive side of the ball, after unexpectedly trading away Bertrand Berry a couple days ago, the club has signed converted LB Terrell Suggs to anchor their DL. Suggs played LB for the Ravens the past 2 seasons, but will revert to his college position on the D line in 2005 as the Ravens switch to a 4-3 set (and possibly a 4-6). Over the past 2 seasons at LB, Suggs has been a dominant threat against opposing QB's. He registered 11 sacks in 2003, and 10 1/2 sacks in 2004. The club anticpates his aggressive play will fit well in the new schemes beings implemented in Baltimore, and that he will be a force on the DL. Some question whether or not Suggs is big enough to play DL, but not the Pitbulls GM…

Terrell is an athlete, weight is not a concern for us, his athleticism will more than make up for his lack of “size”. He’s aggressive and has a knack for terrorizing QB’s. We fully expect him to transition from the Pro Bowl LB he was last year into a Pro Bowl Defensive End this year. We can’t wait to see him chasing down Carson Palmer (recently signed by Jawbone Hill) for us twice a year!

When asked to explain the curious trade of Berry, a player the club was excited about just a few days earlier, we got this from the GM

We like Bertrand, quite a bit actually, but when we saw the opportunity to land Terrell for 150cb’s less, and move up a round in next years draft, we couldn’t resist.

It is anticipated the club will allocate those 150 cb’s to the offensive side of the ball as they continue to trim their Defensive budget in what appears to be an effort to produce a high impact offense.
