Default Sam's Week 14 Notes

Drew Bennett’s 47.3 points was the highest ever for an Indiana Undead receiver, breaking the previous team record of 37.3 set by Isaac Bruce in week 10 of 2002. It was also the highest WR score in Frenzy history, surpassing Javon Walker’s 42.3 points in week 3 this season.

The Parkwood Predators have tied their worst record ever at 9-5, done also in 2003. Baltimore’s 20 points on defense tied the 4th highest D score in Pred’s history.

The Philadelphia Freedom have tied their best record ever at 5-9, done also in 2001. Their 129.05 points was the 7th highest score in Freedom history. Deuce McAllister’s 33.5 points was the 8th highest RB score in Freedom history.

The Royal Hawaiian Opihi’s 145.95 points was the 8th highest score in team history. Buffalo’s 29 points was the highest D score ever for the Opihi, breaking the previous team record of 22 points set by Green Bay in week 9 of 2002. It also was the 4th highest D score in Frenzy history. The Opihi franchise won their 30th career game, joining the Parkwood Predators, Indiana Undead, Brain Dead Squirrel Chasers, and Nittany Dodgers (this week as well) as the teams having reached that plateau. Trent Green passed Marc Bulger to become the Opihi’s all time leading quarterback. Green has 413.85 points in 22 games for a 18.8 average for the Opihi in 2001-04.

The Soap Box Derby Cars had their worst season ever at 4-10. Maurice Hicks’ 33.8 points was the 7th highest RB score in Derby Cars’ history. Atlanta’s 17 points tied the 4th highest D score in team history.

The Liquid Swords had their best season ever at 10-4. Their 154.55 points was the 7th highest score in team history.

Todd Heap’s 22.1 points was the 2nd highest TE score in Jersey Toxic Waste history, behind only Heap’s own team record of 22.9 points in week 4 of 2002.

The Wonder Mutts had their best season ever at 10-4, surpassing their previous best win total by 3 games. Dominack Davis’ 34.85 points was the 7th highest RB score in team history. Darrell Jackson’s 24.5 points was the 6th highest WR score in team history. Antonio Gates was shown up by Tony Gonzalez for the second straight week, and once again things are good in Dodgerland (oops, was that out loud?). The Wonder Mutt’s lost their 30th career game, joining the Philadelphia Freedom, Soap Box Derby Cars, Jersey Toxic Waste, and Urza’s Ragers as franchises who have reached that plateau.

The Bay Area Bloodsucking Insects had their worst season ever at 5-9.

The Brain Dead Squirrel Chasers had their worst season ever at 5-9, were under .500 for the first time ever, and failed to reach the post season for the first time ever. Matt Hasselbeck’s 32.25 points was the 5th highest QB score in team history. Morten Andersen’s 13.1 points was the 3rd highest K score in team history, and highest for the Chasers since Olindo Mare scored 13.2 in week 4 of 2002. Jacksonville’s 17 points on defense was the 5th highest D score in Chasers’ history.

The Nittany Dodgers set a new personal best winning their 5th game in a row this week. The Nittany Dodgers won their 30th career game, joining the aforementioned group. David Patten passed Marty Booker and Curtis Conway to become the Dodgers’ 2nd all time leading receiver. Patten has 162.85 points in 17 games for the Dodgers in 2002-04. Nate Burleson also passed Booker and Conway to become the Dodgers 3rd all time leading receiver. Burleson has 149.75 points in 17 games for the Dodgers in 2003-04.

Jason Witten’s 7.9 points was the 9th highest TE score in Urza’s Ragers history.

One interesting point I have noticed is that the four highest scoring QBs in Frenzy history (Manning, Culpepper, McNabb, and Favre) all reside in the central division. I think that if we got to a Hall of Famer naming convention for the divisions, the central will definitely need to use a QB.

Plenty more regular season ending columns coming this week (maybe even today). Stay tuned.

Excellant read, as always. Well done.

That being said, you're still going DOWN this week!

Good stuff, Brian. I still can't believe that Bennett crushed me like that. I really thought 6-8 was in the cards. BTW, didn't finish 6-8 one year?

Not by what I have, but I'll double check.

I'm proud of the fact that the BUFFALO D/ST and former-Predator-sold-for-a-song, Ashley Lelie combined to take down the "mighty" Predators. More to come next season!!!

Lelie did well for you, musta been due to his getting back to his island roots! ;)

Glad it worked out for ya! I look forward to competing with and against you in 2005... till then, your divisional support is much appreciated!
