Supplemental Draft?

With the emmergance of Harvey Unga on the radar, we may want to think about having our first supplemental draft in SAC'd...rules say we need a 3rd party to email to..any suggestions?

I think we wait until he actually signs with a team before holding it...thoughts?

Signed, no...drafted, yes. Just like we draft players who've been drafted but not signed in the regular draft, we should now draft players who've been drafted in the NFL's Supplemental Draft but may or may not have signed with the drafting team.

Not sure how to make the bidding process transparent to everyone at the end. Could we perhaps agree on asking Preds if he'd do it? He started this league and has always displayed complete integrity as far as I've seen.

I can ask Mike if he would mind...he doesn't log onto IM much anymore..but I could FB him..that seems to work better with a lot of people these days..It just might take me a while to figure out if he replies....not much of an FB'er myself...I'll have my 12 yo figure it out for me....

I just think he was correcting your initial post saying that "we will wait until he actually signs with a team" when you mean when he is drafted by a team.

I know we had these in the Frenzy (I actually thought we had at least one in the SAC'd as well). Since Jim is not in the SAC'd we might want to have folks interested in Unga PM him with the round of the pick they would be willing to use from the 2011 draft. I think this would happen soon after the NFL has their supplemental draft. I am not sure what happens with ties but I think the team with the worse record would get him.

OK, looks like only Unga was taken in the NFL Supplemental draft - below are the rules for supplemental draft in SAC'd - we can start sending Preds our bids..I'll leave it open for a week, so bidding ends midnight EDT Thursday July 29th. His email addy is above...

C. Supplemental Draft

Any player drafted by the NFL (whether rookie or supplemental) must be required to be exposed to a SAC'D rookie draft before being granted outright UFA. Further, SAC'D will implement a blind Supplemental Draft on an as needed basis (i.e. whenever the NFL holds one and a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, kicker, or defensive player is drafted).

The draft would consist of all interested teams e-mailing a 3rd party or blind source the player(s) they would like to draft, and what round & team's pick (since teams may hold others picks in the next years draft) they're willing to forego the following year to claim said player(s).

The team willing to give up the highest pick would get the player(s), and in the event of a tie (where 2 or more teams submit the same round for any player) we would go by the current years rookie draft order for the picks listed to be forfeited in exchange for the player(s) with the highest pick being the winner.

Any necessary supplemental draft would be scheduled within 3 weeks of the conclusion of the NFL's Supplemental draft for any given year.

1. If a player is selected through the supplemental draft his salary would be based on the pick that was given up for him. If pick 2.5 was the winning pick and the player is a RB his salary will be 520cbs.

2. You can offer any pick in the following years draft as long as you own said pick and specify which pick is being used, if you hold multiple picks in a round. This is what the Texans did to get Hollings (using the Raiders pick).

3. The player if selected through the supplemental draft would be DS eligible.

4. Players that are exposed to the supplemental draft and not selected become UFA's just like players from our regular annual draft.
