Default Supplemental Draft

Any player drafted by the NFL (whether rookie or supplemental) must be required to be exposed to a SAC'D rookie draft before being granted outright UFA. Further, SAC'D will implement a blind Supplemental Draft on an as needed basis (i.e. whenever the NFL holds one and a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, kicker, or defensive player is drafted).

The draft would consist of all interested teams e-mailing a 3rd party or blind source the player(s) they would like to draft, and what round & team's pick (since teams may hold others picks in the next years draft) they're willing to forego the following year to claim said player(s).

The team willing to give up the highest pick would get the player(s), and in the event of a tie (where 2 or more teams submit the same round for any player) we would go by the current years rookie draft order for the picks listed to be forfeited in exchange for the player(s) with the highest pick being the winner.

Any necessary supplemental draft would be scheduled within 3 weeks of the conclusion of the NFL's Supplemental draft for any given year.

1. If a player is selected through the supplemental draft his salary would be based on the pick that was given up for him. If pick 2.5 was the winning pick and the player is a RB his salary will be 520cbs.

2. You can offer any pick in the following years draft as long as you own said pick and specify which pick is being used, if you hold multiple picks in a round. This is what the Texans did to get Hollings (using the Raiders pick).

3. The player if selected through the supplemental draft would be DS eligible.

4. Players that are exposed to the supplemental draft and not selected become UFA's just like players from our regular annual draft.
==============

Looks like Ahmad Brooks is the only eligible player this year.

, the NFL had a supplemental draft this year? I wasn't paying attention. I'll have to read up on this Brooks kid, who took him and what round did they give up?

I take it you may have an interest in picking?

I'll set a deadline date for teams to make a claim on any of the recently exposed players. That date will be July 31st at 8:00am ET.

I will not be making any claims, so just PM me with the player name and round of pick you want to give up if you're interested in a player and I'll hold it in complete confidence till the announcement day (the 31st).

For the record, teams can blind bid on any players exposed to the NFL's supplemental draft, not just the 1 player drafted. Also, teams can use any pick they're currently in posession of, with the slotting based on this years original rookie draft order (ie Matt had the #1 pick, and anyone that uses a 2007 Gunslingers pick would be bidding with the x.1 pick of whatever round they choose).

Any questions, post em here.

Actually, I think here (SAC'd) I had the #2 but I understand what you mean.

I'm not sure I understand this. How can you give up a pick you may not have? Or is this just used like a waiver order, whoever gives up the highest pick wins? So Matt's pick in the same round as mine would win, but he gives up that round in next years draft regardless of where it is?

If (and it's a big if) he gets his head on straight this guy is worth way more than a sixth rounder. This is what Scouts Inc., had to say about him:

Brooks reminds me in many ways of Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, as he possesses a similarly rare combination of size, speed and athletic ability. Brooks has the potential to play inside or outside linebacker in the NFL and can also be effective when turned loose off the edge on obvious passing downs. Unfortunately, Brooks has some major "red flags" as a pro prospect, including character, work ethic and durability. In our opinion, Brooks is too risky to consider in the first round but too talented to pass up in the third round.

I will take a shot in the sixth round (and pray this turns out better then the Tony Hollings debacle in the Frenzy.

At least you didn't blow a 2nd rounder this time!

A 6th is well worth the risk IMO. With Odell Thurman's stupidity, I thought about targeting Brooks, but felt I should stick to me word and not put in a bid.

I agree although I don't think that I was the only one that bid a second rounder. I think I just happened to bid the highest second rounder. Actually, I think Hollings just cut by the Bears so maybe he will be in the CFL soon.
