Help me understand something...
If a player (like, say... THOMAS JONES) is cut, don't we have a waiver process now? I seem to recall it being 24 hours, but I could be wrong. It seems to me that Jones should not have been bid on within that first 24 hours... in order to let waivers run their course. Or is this only DURING the regular season. Thanks... |

No Jim, you are correct. Thomas Jones is still available for waivers for 24 hours. While we didn't specificially say that a player on waivers cannot be bid on until they clear waivers, it seems implied, though maybe it doesn't really matter. He can't sell until after he clears waivers (since his waiver time will expire before his first bid expires), but bidding allows teams high on the waiver order to see if it makes sense to claim a player on waivers or not. Other thoughts?

The question I have, which Jim also stated, is when are the Waivers in effect? From the opening day of the new season till the Frenzy Bowl? BTW, I also forgot about TJ needing to clear waivers, and was 2nd on board in the bidding. oops

Well, to me it makes logical sense that there would be no bidding until the player clears waivers. The more bids that go on just let the higher waiver claim positions know what the player could potentially go for. That doesn't make sense to me.
I do believe it was stated when we voted that the waiver claim procedure would take effect on 4/1, when we discussed if soft cap cuts would be elligible for waivers (we decided they wouldn't be, but as soon as the new year kicked in it would start). |

Just to confirm, in the official rules, and the Waiver Order thread, it is stated the waiver claim process began 4/1.
Unless there is any dissent (in which case we'll have a vote), I'll modify the waiver claim rules to include language that waiver players cannot be bid on for 24 hours after they are cut to allow the player to clear waivers. |

One more thing I was thinking about that isn't specified in the rule, but will most likely come up; claiming players released from Taxi and Practice Squads. Is it our intention to allow teams to claim players waived from the TS and PS and place them on their own TS and PS? I would be in support of teams being able to claim players waived from TS and PS and place them on their own TS (assuming they are elligible) but NOT on their is PS regardless of elligibility for the PS. Any other thoughts?

Not PS to PS, but PS to TS is OK IMO

I agree with all that's been expressed thus far. Seems like we're on the right track...

Can I make a suggestion for players that are cut could the cutting team put the current contract and cap years in the thread? This way people can see (without having to try and look up) what they would be getting with particular players.
Also, where do waiver claims get submitted to? |

As far as where to post the claim, post your intentions right in the thread the player was cut. This also means that each cut needs its own thread. |
