Default The Thrilla is Over: Frenzy Bowl IV

Frenzy Bowl IV

The fight is over. Fighters…to your corners. Ladies and gentlemen, please remain in your seats while the judges tally their scores. Thank you. [crowd noise and camera flashes continually going off as both contestants move to the center of the ring, each having one arm held down by the referee].

{ahem}

Laaadies and gentlemeeennnn. This weekend we watched a grueling 16 game bout between two juggernauts for the heavy-weight title. The judges have tallied their scores. With a score of 156.1 to 109.1 we have a TKO for Frenzy Bowl IV and a NEW CHAM-P-ON of the WORLD,
The Woooonndeeeerrr Mutttttttsssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[crowd erupts in triumphant cheers of joy and groans of anguish…fireworks go off in the background…and music is cranked another 10 decibels. The camera pans over the crowd, finally focusing in on the commentator, who is trying to talk above the crowd noise]

I don’t know if you can hear me at the studio, this place is deafening. This is Tank D’Season coming to you from one of the loudest places I’ve even been. We watched an awesome match this week. Both contestants fought a great battle.

I’m not sure if the Parkwood Predators are going to be speaking with the media today. They headed quickly into the locker room after the bout – probably to hit the whirlpool and lick the wounds of their ego. For a team this dominant in the regular season (and past seasons), I think they got a little overconfident. They definitely took it easy the last few weeks leading up to this big game and my theory is they weren’t up for the game since they had been here before, especially when they faced a hungry Wonder Mutt team that was chomping at the bit to knock off the champs. In fact, the only Predator player who showed up was Ladainian Tomlinson, who rolled to 37.35 points. A couple of WR scored in the double-digits, but that was about it. This team has some real soul-searching to do in the off-season. They will either continue to plummet next year with the common Frenzy Bowl let-down, or step up to the challenge and make another run for the Championship – in which I think they will be tough to beat.

On the other hand, the Wonder Mutts came in on fire. If you want a QB to pull it out in the big game, you can’t choose much better than Brett Favre – who broke out of his slump in the Metrodome to pull in 35.15 points. Dominic Davis went off against the very tough Jags for 34.9 point, while Corey Dillon actually was a little below expectations for 18.35 points, he still set some solid numbers. I was wrong about Antonio Bryant (Dennis Northcut got the catching in the game) who put up a paltry 2.5 points (Mr. Shape-up-or-your-waiver-wire-fodder). Rookie Larry Fitzgerald definitely stepped up to the plate with the injury to TO and pulled in two TDs. Darrell Jackson didn’t have a great game, but was able to get double-digits with 13.1 points. Antonio Gates once again shows why he’s the best TE in the NFL (and Frenzy League) pulling in another TD. This man is going to be frightening in the future as he learns more about the NFL. Shayne Graham wasn’t given the opportunities I thought he would have, but he is also going to be a stud kicker in this league. Detroit’s 9 points helped, but should have had more against the Chicago Bears.

All in all, this was a great game and a great season. I couldn’t have asked for a more thrilling league to write for. I’ll be back for another season! Until then, Frenzy fans, this is Tank D’Season signing off from Frenzy Bowl IV.

Congratz to the Mutts!!!! :champ Great Job Jake! An amazing turn around from a 2-12 season in '03 to Frenzy Champ in '04! You give my team hope!!!!!!
:notworthy

I've been MIA since Dec but I think I've recovered from the ugly football season that I call 2004.

Bad news: my Niners went 2-14 and my Frenzy Team went 5-9. :rant
Good news: I won my main money league and was runner-up in my local league. I have 2 first round picks this year and lots of cap space. Lets hope I can pull a "Jake."
